Is it me, or is this the most pathetic excuse in the world?

"'I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Layer Road, however the decision to cancel the game with MK Dons has really upset me. I love the National Hockey Stadium. Its a wonderful ground, with a splendid atmosphere. The fans there are what football is all about. Some of them have even been going for 4 years now, and thats the kind of loyalty all football fans should adopt.' "

    And people complain about us.

The team that finishes 2nd in the league now has no manager, Chairman on holiday and no signings.

There'd be a riot on here if that was us.

    Thing is..............

he's no mug. He realises that they are almost certain to go straight back down-even when they have finished 2nd and got automatic promotion they averaged less than 4000 home gates so the income stream won't be there

Ipswich take all the floating fans in that area, the club has no money and no prospect of any

All in all he's best going now while on a successful high rather than at the end of the season when he's taken them straight back down

    See what I mean-30-yes a whole 30!!!

We now have over thirty contributions towards our special book on the promotion winning season - and we're looking for more!

So far, the majority of contributions have covered the U's away games, so if you attend mainly home matches, there's still a niche for your writing talents.

There remain plenty of games for you to get involved with and remember, we need only 100ish words for each match. It's a way for you to get your name into what will be a book which captures a huge part of history forever.

What's more, it's not too late for you to write a longer piece summing up your memories of what was most definitely the U's finest season.

So, take a look at what games have been taken below, cast your mind back to your favourite game and get writing!

All contributions should be sent to editor@colchesterunited.net.

    30 isnt bad considering

Nobody wants to write abou the games that they lost because they don't want to appear negative in a bok of celebration.
