Court case starts this week according to The Times, faces 7 years in prison if found guilty (along with his 3 colleagues). I think we might end up with some problems in the summer because of this.
If guilty then he will fail the 'fit and proper' test I would imagine. Regardless of whether we can run without him, I expect there would be ramifications of him being owner.
It don't matter if he dose fail the fit and proper test, remember the channel 4 program the clubs not in his name
Having looked at the rule, anyone who can apply direct or indirect influence on the club or who has rights to 30% or more of the clubs shares is classed as a director. If they fail the test they can be forced to surrender their holding
I would be very surprised if, considering all the time that has past and the money Cryne et al will have spent on a legal team, that they don't have a good idea of the impending outcome already. However, I can't begin to second guess him, as he stays pretty quiet.
I don't think he has voting rights on the shares. BFC Dave might be able to shed more light on this. But it might be nice if the club communicated what might happen....
It could be that the whole point of this season has been to slim the club down and reduce its debts in order to be a good prospect for possible purchasers - anyone agree with this viewpoint? To be able to buy a Championship (hopefully) club which is not in debt must look pretty attractive.
He's mentioned in the John Dennis book (which is a fascinating read, btw). JD says he's been approached on several occasions and stated that he has no interest in investing in a football club.
hes already the owner of the club, so doubt he needs to pass any fit and proper test anyway. that test is for new owners of clubs
Errrr... Since when has the FA actually enforced the fit and proper persons test? I'm thinking of thaksin shinawatra here for a start... If there are instances, I bet it's only once or twice when press pressure has dictated.
