Has made more mistakes than a dyslexic 5 year old taking an English A-level exam but does that make him a bad person? No it doesn't Perhaps we should all lay off him a little? He knows that people are unhappy with the decisions he has made, he knows that people want his ownership diluted or removed. Does continually stating that gain anything? No He has said he is ready to leave, he knows now that it is what a lot of people want and no amount of abuse will increase his knowledge of that so what exactly is the point other than to cause personal anguish to him?
I think the problem is stemming from the people he's employed for example... Ben Mansford and Maurice Watkins. Too many cowboys and all that..
Agreed. I remember when Doyle was in charge and people were clamouring for PC to take over. He was very reluctant to get involved, and who can blame him? Absolutely thankless and impossible task. Whilst I agree that he has indeed made a lot of mistakes, I am thankful that he had the balls to try and make a go of it in the first place.
He has made mistakes for the right reasons, if you like. It isn't as though he's deliberately tried to run us into the ground. He loves the club and the decisions he made were in the hope of the best possible outcome. I understand why 'get 'em young and sell 'em for a big profit' is an attractive proposition. It can work, too. But a) not when there is no experience at all in the team and b) Lee Johnson has used up all the goodwill a fanbase can reasonably be expected to give, and the task needs to be someone else's.
I'm not sure it is what a lot of people want. As with when Wilson was sacked (and as things are I. This day and age with social media), the ones with the strongest opinions are often the most vocal and repetitive, therefore giving the impression that that opinion is the majority. The above depends on what you class as a lot of people mind. I'm sure there's 100+ people want him to go. But I bet there's more like 6,000+ people want Johnson to go. And rightly so in my opinion.
Yes the definition of a lot is very loose. I would say that in this case a lot means a sizeable number but nowhere near a majority of fans. Despite how my views may appear I don't actually want him to leave the club altogether, my desire is for the clubs ownership to be shared between several people or even between the fan base because when one person is making all the decisions it is far easier to make the wrong ones. One person can go down a route that they think is right and without others to tell them theyre making mistakes they will never know until it is too late. That's Patrick's biggest mistake for me, not surrounding himself with enough people who will tell him when he is doing wrong. Even the best **** up
Makes you wonder what Cryne did to make his millions when he has made so many errors in the running of the club. That said he is only an accountant. May be he should have brought John Dennis on board. The idea of 'get 'em young and sell 'em for a big profit' is indeed an attractive proposition but this is what most Clubs try and do now. You can't run a Club in the hope a John Stones will turn up every 2-3 years. Didn't Crewe have a policy like that? Cryne needs to cut his losses and move on.
Barry Taylor longer term (and Watkins shorter term) should have been helping Patrick in this department really. Not sure there's a need for any further help, or there shouldn't be rather. I respect all opinions, and I understand why some are pointing the finger and demanding Cryne leaves. But I'm just nowhere near being in that camp. Lee Johnson has been an absolute disaster, and as much as the board appointed him I don't think anyone thought he would be as bad as this. Yes they didn't rate the appointment, but eight defeats in nine games in all competitions nobody would have predicted. You could fill a 2,000 word dossier with decisions he's made that have accumulated to this downfall. Some of the chants at Scunny came from the minority, but also IMO groups of fans who wouldn't actually be able to tell you why they were singing it (some, not all). Being linked with more teenage loan players doesn't help matters though.
I reckon that Barry is actually a huge part of the problem. I'm basing that on nothing but a hut feeling though
So you start a post about not being abusive by being pretty abusive. Maybe you should heed your own advice. I have no issue with criticism of managers, players et al (although will respect it more if it is constructive or proposes thought through alternatives). But your one of the worst people for making criticism personal. Pearson being a case in point.
We could definitely agree on that. Should have been asked to step down after the Leeds United debacle. If we ever found a run of form, moved up the leagues, and had funds to build a Supporter's Bar, Barry Taylor would advise the board not to spend the money. Prehistoric views in an ever changing and modern world.
I have always felt that he is a bit of a yes man who realises how fortunate he is to still be on the board and that he is indebted to Patrick and thus he agrees with anything that Patrick says which rather than helping Patrick make decisions only serves to further the one man blindly walking down an alley situation we are in. Patrick (with the best intentions) says he thinks we should spend all our money on loans and Barry sits nodding his head agreeing with every word. Result? Anyone else in the board is outvoted. Now I'm not saying that either Patrick or Barry are deliberately doing that or that they have that situation for anything other than logical reasons but I think it is the situation we have and it is extremely unhealthy and it stems from Patrick being sole owner which again is something that was done with the best of intentions but in my opinion not with the greatest of planning for a successful football club. You either need a bigger board made up of people wiling to stand up to the owner when they are making bad decisions or you need a diluted ownership where more than one person has ultimate control. Neither of these things require Patrick to walk away but both require him to relinquish his control to an extent
I'm not sure mate. I think Barry Taylor uses how long he's been around to do the exact opposite. I think he might have a bigger say than what we think he does. Dinosaur for me. I have no evidence to back this up, so to quote a word I used far too often last weekend I'm purely speculating here.

Part of this is willing to listen and learn from more experienced people in the best interests of the club, whether you like them or not. Surround yourself with the best and you will become better.
