Bit of an odd one but I know a relative of his who would like to know a bit about his playing days. Was he any good? Did he have any chants for him? funny stories at away games that sort of thing. Was at Tykes for 10 years, local lad signed on as an apprentice, Left Back.

    Cheers.

Good player - bad injury finished his career - never the same player

Nice lad as well - we lived next door tohis grandad and he popped in now and again to say hello. Think he wasnicknamed Charlie - I always thought he looked Charlie Chaplin - not sure if that's the reason though!

Also was this injury at Barnsley or one of his later clubs?

    He indeed was named Charlie

for his resemblence to Charlie Chaplin. He was a little **** with black hair a black 'tache.

To be fair on Charlie he did very well for the reds before his injury and then the emergence of John Beresford made it even more difficult for him to get back in.

He was definitely a fans favourite of time.

He went on to do courses as a physio in the Hartlepool and Darlington area. I think he went to Darlington after us.

My old man still speaks to him regularly and I think he's still a physio.

There a link to a list of these? Didn't realise he was that well thought of! Keep them coming.

Dunno how his relative will take to him being called a little ****! :D

He was physio at Darlo for quite some time. He did work on my knees and we had some good chats about BFC. Nice bloke. Not sure about his physio skills though as I'm undergoing a series of knee surgeries now!!

Paul works for the same company as me. He is assistant lesiure club manager at Redworth hall hotel in Co Durham.
a top lad, who loved his time at the `well, speaks affectionalty of the club and its supporters and will be coming down to a game soon.
He got his name charlie - from bobby collins always calling him a right charlie in training.

I always thought it was because he had the same hair style as Charlie Nicholas at one bit!

I played football with both his brothers in the late eighties. Their Kev was one of the hardest centre halves in local football. Ask Jedi One.
