    Just a week after beating Liverpool in the cup. Breaking news on SSN. I wonder what Calgary Tyke's hubby (an avid Oldham fan) thinks of it?

    It's been going on for a while, had his back room staff laid off and his position was being made increasingly difficult. He's gone out on a high and will find another job no doubt. Good luck to him.

    Well it's saved Simon Corney money sacking him and they won't be short of applicants with the big cup game to come. League form has been shocking so it's good for the locals he's gone.

    His chairman was on BBC Breakfast the day after the game. He came across very badly, constantly refusing to back Dickov and repeating how anybody with his recent run if results would be under pressure. That may be true but hardly the tone you'd expect when they'd just knocked out Liverpool.

    Mellon would be a good shout so let's hope he wants to stay here until the end of the season at least. A relegation battle in the championship has got to be better than a relegation battle in the ale house league.

    Some people must be number 1, some are content to be in the background,...I don't know which camp Mellon falls into, I like most on here hope he stays to help our relegation fight and beyond.I don't think its just by Flickers magic alone that we've pulled it round and given ourselves a fighting chance of staying up. And him and Scott's contribution shouldn't be underestimated, they are doing a great job....But like when we get decent players, envious eyes will be taking note aswell....

    to be fair it's the Simon Davey scenario. A good cup result doesn't mean everything's rosey, they've been shocking in the league.

    Wow. Just told him - he's surprised, to be honest. If he was going to leave you would think he would've done it around the same time the back-room staff were sent out on "gardening leave" on New Year's Eve. Obviously league results have not been good, but he has just been allowed to bring in 3 players on loan (one of whom scored on his debt yesterday), a luxury he has not been afforded all season.

    So now there is no-one to coach the players / manage the team. Clearly something has gone on between Dickov and Carney. Believe me, I'd rather be a Barnsley fan than an Oldham fan!!
