just watched him bring the ball out of defence, run through the west ham midfield and slide the ball to steve lowndes and he smashed it into the net from 12 yards, wish we had a paul futcher now

why he spent the majority of his career outside the top flight is an absolute mystery.

League Cup game by any chance. . .

What a game that is, it is the most one sided commentary i have ever heard. The guy sounds suicidal by the time we get the 5th.

He would definitely be in my all-time best Barnsley 11, as would Ronnie Glavin.

Goalkeeper - Clive Baker - Sub David Watson

Defenders - Paul Futcher, Mick McCarthy, Nick Eaden, Darren Barnard, Sub - Joe Joyce

Midfield - Ronnie Glavin, Niel Redfearn, Gwyn Thomas, Stuart Gray, Subs - Craig Hignett, Steve Agnew

Forwards, John Hendry, Trevor Aylott, Sub - Derrick Parker

    What a team!

Can't even find room for Stewart Barrowclough, Owen Archdeacon, Neil Shipperley, Martin Bullock, Roger Wylde, Gerry Taggart, Ian Banks (mk1), Bobby Horn, Paul Cross, Darren Sherridan, Arjan de Zeeuw and so on. Any of these players would make the team today.

Colin Benson was the guy's name.....

...my video of the game stopped working a long time ago, but I still remember some of his pearlers - "that's West Ham football at it's best!" he screams, as Tony Cottee goes for a cross with a bicycle kick and completely misses the ball. Priceless!

RE: what about Ashley Ward and Fjortoft?

He's a kept man is Wardy though. His wife is a property developer in Cheshire and is totally minted. A lot of her clients are Premiership footballers from the North West clubs.

    Paul Futcher = Legend!

(worship) (worship) Cooliest pplayer I've seen! Even his own goals were classy - remember the 40 yarder when he chipped Baker ( not hard I know!)

87/88 season at home to West Brom (if memory serves me right) when Futch scored that long range own goal. We'd just gone 1-0 up when he did it as well.
