Awful news. It's difficult to keep reading about such a great player falling so far. I think it's only a matter of time now.
He's ******, int he? As sad as it is because he will always be my first hero, I have come to accept that he's beyond help or redemption.
me too He was a great footballer to watch Always been a selfish and unpleasant bloke and this proves yet again he will never change
If he's managing to remain sober for a reasonable amount of the time with even serious lapses in between then he's made and is making progress. It's not easy for an alcoholic to stop drinking but it is easy to focus on the lapses and to overlook what's going on between them. I wish him well.
Good luck to the fella. Hope he can get on top of his demons before it's too late. If his next dry spell lasts longer than this one he is getting somewhere.
Biggest mistake he ever made was not signing for Man Utd and going to spurs. Fergie would have looked after him
As much as a talented bloke he was. I think he is past help. I mean last time all of his mates clobbered together to help him through, this is how he as repayed them. Its disgusting behavior. r r
Possibly, although there was a big drinking culture at Man Utd at that time. According to legend Bryan Robson used to really knock it back. And Gazza's problems didn't really start until after he'd stopped playing football. While he was doing what he loved he was reasonably alright. He still drank too much, but it didn't spiral out of control until he had all that time on his hands and he could no longer do what he was born to do. He would have had a better career under Fergie and he would have been given a hell of a lot of good advice, but his career would still have ended eventually and I think he'd be in exactly the same situation now.
