Does anybody think that if we achieve promotion then Paul Hart should recieve any credit because it seems to me that everybody is changing their tune about him now and everybody hated him when he left. In my opinion he was a good judge of a player which shows signs of been a decent Youth coach which he was but he was an appauling man manager and had absolutley no reguard for the supporters whatsoever. I even seem to remember Oakwell 1575 AM taking the piss out of him and even went on record as saying that they were glad that he left Just my opinion like!!
Yes he signed some great players but he signed some shockers which made him look bad - Conlon, Vaughan etc
What on earth are you onabart Harts skills as a manager were woeful. Harts ability to pick out a decent player debatable. For every Reid there is an onabuji. Could not motivate. Change our minds about him? you could not be more wrong if you tried.
RE: What on earth are you onabart That's exactly what i just said!! He was a terrible man manager who could motivate his way out of a wet paper bag But he did sign some decent players of whom are key players in our current side (McPhail, Reid, Shuker etc) Don't think for a second that i liked Hart as a manager, i hated him more than anybody believe me, although the rest of my family who are season ticket holders thought that he was the best manager we had since Wilson.
The good news for us is that Ritchie is shipping those Hart failures out (Conlon, Vaughan, Onibuje) and adding to the quality signings that he made (Colgan, Shuker, Reid........etc) with players like Hayes, Devaney and Howard. Ritchie can get the best out of players whereas Hart was an absolute failure.
You were saying that peoples opinion of him had changed I would say it has hardened. He signed a few good players that he could not motivate and thats abart it. Threw away a very, very good chance of a new start.
RE: You were saying that peoples opinion of him had changed Further down the board, people were saying that he should be given credit for the better players that he signed and yes you are absolutley right in what you say. He chucked away a glorious chance to rebuild a side, a chance that not many managers get. It seemed to me like he was in an incredible sulk because he was sacked by Forest where he saw himself as untouchable because of his record with their youth team and his flukey season in the play offs with them. When he was there he seemed like a polite decent guy who had nothing but the upmost respect for his players and supporters. But when he came here he didn't seem interested in the slightest and he seemed to think that no club could replace his beloved Forest. I found it strange that he didn't bring any of his Forest coaching staff with him to Oakwell. This was because he had fallen out with them all because they dared to question his 'diamond' formation, so he had to make do with Ritch Tea as assistant. He messed up a great opportunity that was down to his stubborness and i will hate Ridsdale forever and more for appointing the waster!!!
I think a couple of people with selective memories and rose tinted glasses tried to give hime a bit of credit. More luck than judgement I would have said. A lot of Forest fans hated the guy, even during his season of relative success. What we got at Barnsley was more of the same as predicted by a significant numer of forest fans. Lived off his past "reputation" at L**ds.
RE: I think The 'Paul Hart fan club' as i like to call my family thought that he was an excellent coach and that us supporters were dick heads who seemed to think that we had a divine right to win. Even today they still drone on and on about how we didn't respect him. After the Donny home game last season they said that was the best football we had played for years and that he would take us up if we had given him a few years (god knows where we would be if he'd stayed) UNBELIVABLE!!!!! I thought that all Forest supporters loved him, i didn't know that they all hated him please tell me more.....
There were plenty who thought they made the playoffs despite Harts stubborn adoption of mystifying diamond formations, players put out of position...you know the score. There were plenty of forest fans on "here" accurately predicting the way things would go long before they did. Some thought he was good too. Relative success tends to polarise opinions...hence the "god" like status (amongst some) of Thordason who admittedly worked wonders on less than a shoestring but whom ultimately was found wanting.
