I think what is happening on here is this We have now, when the season has nearly finished, got two PROPER strikers And everybody, including those at the begining of the season that were telling us that our forward line was good enough, are starting to look at the two Hungarian guys and thinking - where would Barnsley be in the league if we had these guys from the kick off of this season ? For all those that stuck up for and also backed the likes of ............... Wright Hayes Richards Nardia Lets hear how wrong you were................ (givinfinger) (givinfinger) (givinfinger)
Though I agree with the sentiment Its still a bit early to judge the Magyars though they have looked twice the strikers that we started the season with.
i freely admit that im one of those who stuck up for our much maligned strike force..... BECAUSE I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT, ENCOURAGE AND BACK WHOEVER IS WEARING THE RED SHIRT. sometimes they arent good enough, sometimes they dont seem to try as hard as we would like them to, sometimes they get unlucky... but if they are wearing the shirt then i will back them.. yes even mattis... ive just never seen the point of slagging them off for the sake of it.
Slagging them off for the sake of it. You say - 'slagging them off for the sake of it'. I don't think anybody slags players off for the sake of it Although I do think there is quite a lot of sheep mentality when it comes to certain players For example - if enough people say Mattis is crap, then some people just follow that opinion Another thing about slagging players off, and I've said this more than once on here, I think it is ok to discuss opinions of players on this message board but on no account would I boo or jeer during an actual match. And like I said at the begining of the season - we had a weak poor squad I stick by that But that dosen't mean I don't cheer them at the WELL
RE: Slagging them off for the sake of it. it seems its almost a sport in barnsley ( and no doubt the same for 99% of other teams as well ) , we had a thread last week discussing scapegoats , if there isnt someone to blame then we can easily find someone , for me we all knew we wernt we good enough, its just how we react to that and how we all see things differently re players and players needed , i mean if we all thought the same it would be pretty boring on here and in life in general.
so the Hungry boys have 1 good game and they are the best thing since slice bread pretty much like Nards when he 1st joined Hayes was not a out and out goalscorer and last season he had a hand in over 25% of goals with assists and goals himself! Just a shame strikers are always judged on goals!
RE: so the Hungry boys have 1 good game and they are the best thing since slice bread
Where's Paul D to back this up when you need him ;-)

Hayes played much better when he was pulled back into midfield I think there is still scope for him to be on the bench as a spare winger - he would be if we didn't have Kyel Reid IMHO. It's a tough call though - I think we could all see that the squad wasn't good enough for this level, and now Davey's getting rid of the them to bring in players he thinks are good enough he gets slated - rightfully so in the case of Mattis.
i predict Istavan will be a 1mil+ sale out the door close season but a lot will depend on what league we will be in!
i would never slate Hayes - scored many an important goal and been a great team player good luck to him!
Two options: (1) I know something about football & Paul Hayes is one of the few players we have with the natural ability to play at this level ... he just needed a few round him on a similar wavelength. or (2) I know nothing about football, strikers are paid to score goals ... and he doesn't get enough - so he's **** & should be shot with a big gun. I'd prefer to see Dawyne Mattis & Robbie Williams in the squad, as they are match winners. FFS sideways avec une grande fromage frais.
