    Good Player

Wish he was still with us and didn't think we should have got rid of him when we did. He gave us a couple of options as he could play out wide as well as up front.

He is the only player SD has got rid of that should have been kept. He would have been a handy squad player.

when will ppl realise that Hayesy's now playing at a level that suits him!

He's not good enough for the Championship - as he well proved! He's in the same mould as people like Marc Richards et al.

He is better than Marc Richards - I always thought he was good enough to play in the Championship - not as the 20 goal a season striker but as a creator - he set up more goals than anyone else the last season he played for us.
He certainly wouldnt solve all our problems up front but he would certainly help

I agree - however, compared to most forwards Davey has brought in Hayes and Richards were better -and that's what pisses people off.

That's just it isn't it. You don't really know if anyone can cut it in the Championship until you try them. I suppose as Odd Job was scoring 1 in 3 at League 1 level it was a reasonable gamble that he could step up. It might even be a step too far for Mackail-Smith. Who knows.

I though he was a talented footballer

He seemed to lack a bit of heart though.

He wanted to go to Southend and slagged us off when he was on loan at Huddersfield.
No way back for him, but he was better than Richards.

He may have had more raw talent than Richards but he didn't have a quarter of the heart. Richards would have got my vote every time.

Not sure he was exactly what we needed but he was a hell of a lot better than Christensen, Mostto and Odejayi.

The same people calling for us to sign...

McLean, Mackail-Smith, etc etc are the same people that lambasted and criticised Hayes whenever I tried to defend him.

Why would they be any better? Hayes has been prolific at League 1 level too and would get in our team now without a struggle - which isn't a big praise of him, just a criticism of any striker at our club with the exception of Hume.

From what I saw of Hume we paid double the amount he is worth. Just saying like.

    But..

He knows what a net is, and we're paying badly for the fact that none of our other strikers do.

Well, Macken did, he just seems to have developed a phobia of penalty areas.
