Agreed Hope he can take that forwatd into the 2nd half of the season. Just logged on and had a flick thro' the board. We're 4th, unbeaten in 10, maybe not playing every game to the standards we'd all like but let's be happy with what we've got. What do I find on this board ? Who would we sell in Jan ? We're doomed if/when Shukes leaves, The club's doomed financially, 'proper' fans getting holier than thou about Ritchie. 'Proper' fans having a go at those who've stopped away. People STILL having a go at Hayes & Richards, looking for drama cos Carbon missed out on Saturday. My conclusions ? Most contributors to this board are thick, immature spoilt snidey little b@stards.
At work in Scunthorpe oh yes, Christmas has come early. Hayes, Devaney, Howard - cant wait to see Kell if they are anything to go by. jigsaw looking alreight, more or less, innit.
Progress. And it's a young team that's learning, which means imho, there'll be a dip in form. Let's just hope these patient salt of the earth Reds fans still give them encouragement at that time. Mind, it'll be another set of arseholes claiming they were right all along and Ritchie is crap.
When did we last score 5? Was it the Blackburn game in the play-off season? I can't remember one since. At the start of the season I thought we'd got a mid-table squad with an average manager and the best we could hope for would be sneaking in to the play-offs with a late run, but I didn't hold out much hope for that. Now I reckon we've got a real chance. It's the best midfield we've had for years, we've a couple of genuinely exciting players who can win a game, the defence has finally been shored up, and Hayes is beginning to score the goals and put in the performances that Ritchie knew he was capable. I'm not going to make any silly predictions, but at least we're seeing an improvement; there's some good football on show and it feels like we've finally turned a corner. I've even started staring at the league tables again. I can't begin to tell you how f.uked off I've been with this club (for very good reason) but Andy Ritchie has made me care again. I can't thank him enough for that. Now if only the board would review their pricing policy and bring in some initiatives to tempt back the thousands who have been alienated by years of abject, unprofessional performances on the pitch, ever increasing admission prices and public relations that have made fans feel far from wanted.
Thing is, they're not The average attendance is the worst since the 95-96 season. For the three previous seasons in this division we averaged well over nine and half thousand despite being utter ***** for much of it. This season it's 8,755. So we're a better team getting better results, but fewer fans are coming to games. I can't say for certain, but I'd be very surprised if the second price rise in successive seasons hasn't had something to do with that.
