I hope the club didn't just allow the Hayes move to break down without doing their damndest to see it through - like agreeing to make up the wage difference, for instance. That way we move a disaffected player on for a decent transfer fee and significantly reduce the wage bill.
What we now have is a lad whose mind is clearly elsewhere, who isn't in the Manager's plans, and who will be drawing a full wage until his contract ends - at which point we'll get a pittance handed down by a tribunal.
An unsatisfactory state of affairs from both a business and a personal point of view.

Or alternatively ... We have a player that has between now and the end of the season to put himself in the shop window or earn a new contract. Having spoken to Orient Mr Hayes may realise that the contract he has with us isn't too bad after all.
