Thankyou for your Penalty against Huddersfield, your opening goal against Swansea @ Cardiff and the Penalty you converted in the shoot-out. Enjoy your football wherever you will play it. Right now that's out of the way, why are so many of you sticking up for him, other then the above mentioned he contributed nothing to this club especially at Championship level. He made his name as a League 2 striker, and I think that he's too good for that level but not good enough for League1 - he struggled immensly last season to score goals so it was obvious that he would do the same at a higher level, that is why Ritchie tried to accommodate him elsewhere in the team, (something that Hayesy must have agreed to as he has been quoted as saying he respected Ritchie). His effort and work rate this season have been abysmal and Ferenczi & Raiczi have emabarrassed every other senior player at the club in 1 game in that respect. More importantly, PH is off the wage bill and we could spend those thousands on a proven championship player. After all, if he was that good surely better teams that Southend, Leyton Orient and Huddersfield would have snapped him up, and looking at it from a Huddersfield point of view - I would rather have Pawel Abbott playing for me than Paul Hayes. Hayes has not only crossed to the dark side from a supporters point of view, but in my opinon has burnt his bridges with BFC with his 1st Hudderfield interview. Let's wait and see- he's bound to score against us the next time our paths cross.
Agree with some of that Certainly unproven at Championship level - frustrating to watch and appears to be lacking in real effort - never tackles properly. Wouldnt see him getting into any other Championship side - only Southend were interested. Nagging feeling is though, that he did seem to have the talent.
'His effort and work rate this season have been abysmal' Spot on, i cannot see why people are sticking up for him.
He contributed nothing???????????? 25% of our goals last season from Hayes or a hayes assist thats quite a lot to me
Speaks for itself that Hayes has a better assist record then goalscoring record which ever club he's been at (Even at Scunny!)
RE: He contributed nothing???????????? Top scorer last seaso and probably created most. Struggled this year but look what he was playing alongside. May not have wanted the physical side of the game but other than Howard our most creative player.
RE: At 23 Harsh comments about Hayes. I would have imagined that had we lost to Hull on Tuesday and the Hungarians hadn't peformed that well then there would have been an outcry as to why Davey was letting him go. Hayes is a quality player - you would have to be blind not to see that - , technically good enough for the Championshiop but as we well know gets knocked about too easy in a division that im my opinion is even more physical than Div 1 ( but a damn sight more skilful). It does however seem commmon sense to me given the promise the Hungarians have shown- to get rid - albeit, on the basis of 3 or 4 games only. Hayes is down the pecking order and not happy at the club. Dont let any negativity from another player effect the players who want to keep this club in the Championship. It also gets him off the wage bill too. I just hope we get a fee for him. My big memory of Hayes is that run he did at Oldham to set up a rare McPhail goal. Very Maradona-esque as he left 4 Oldham players on their backsides before giving McPhail the easiest goal of his life.
RE: At 23 i echo what everybody else has said,he has ability but his attitude is all wrong, scared of getting injured if you ask me!
