Because I think we were building something special. We have thrown it away through our own acts/omissions. At my age, that fills me with a sense of futility in expecting our club to grow and develop. Will that change under the new owners? Possibly. But for now I wait to be convinced.
Good read that, although I still really dislike the bloke. There he is again, highlighting the owners shortcomings. Whining like he did when he was here. I'd be interested to know who he holds accountable for his abysmal tenure at Leeds, with a good number of the current team.
He was doing a talk at college on Friday my daughter was there and said hecky and Patrick were constantly arguing over the lack of contract negotiations and the way the club was going to go under the new ownership that effectively sealed Heckys fate at oakwell
For me the new management gets the benefit of the doubt until we see what's happening structurally. We've already seen some more longer contacts. But obviously everyone gets to decide for themselves so thanks for the explanation!
“I’d reached the point where, whoever it was, the next club that offered me a way out, I was taking it. I even thought about walking out and handing my notice in anyway. It felt pointless me being there.” So why did he sign a new contract?
Possible theory on this. I repeat, possible. Disenchanted. Wants out. Under contract, so no departure unless the club agrees. CEO says: "Paul, we will let any approaching club speak to you if you sign this new contract so that we get compensation for losing your services." Hecky signs. Leeds are allowed to speak to him. {Sequel: Leeds do what they always do. Hecky gets some breathing time with the benefit of his compo package.}
