<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" border="0"><tbody><tr><td valign="top" align="left"><span class="px12">Transfer funds will be on table for summer spending at Derby</span></td></tr></tbody></table><span class="px11"> <font>By Steve Nicholson</font></p> <font>PaulJewell will still have a transfer kitty to spend this summer, despite revealing that Derby County have already budgeted for the first parachute payment.</font></p> <font>Clubs relegated from the Premier League receive parachute money of £12.3m in each of their first two seasons back in the Championship.</font></p> <font>After turning the club round and winning promotion through the play-offs in May, the Rams set about trying to survive in the top flight.</font></p> <font>Previous manager Billy Davies spent £12m on new players last summer by adding the likes of Robert Earnshaw, Claude Davis and Kenny Miller to the squad.</font></p> <font>The wage bill increased by around £13m and money was repaid to the bank.</font></p> <font>“You get parachute money for two years and the idea is to bounce straight back,” said Jewell, who was at Oakwell last night as Hull City beat Barnsley 3-1.</font></p> <font>“The parachute money has gone for next season, that had already been spent before I got here so it is not as though I have got all that to spend.</font></p> <font>“Luckily enough, the board are going to give me some money to spend.”</font></p> <font>Adam Pearson took over as chairman in late October and stressed that finding “significant new investment” was the key to the club's future.</font></p> <font>American company General Sports and Entertainment, headed by Andy Appleby, took control of the Rams in January.</font></p> <font>“The American investment has put the club on an even keel and has also enabled the manager to have a transfer kitty for a promotion challenge next season,” said Pearson.</font></p> <font>Jewell can add any cash he raises through loan fees and sales to his transfer kitty. Mile Sterjovski is set to hand Derby a boost against West Ham United at the weekend.</font></p> <font>The Australian international is back in training after an Achilles' injury ruled him out of the defeat by Aston Villa.</font></p> <font>Defender Marc Edworthy, who is out of contract this summer, has also returned to training. The 35-year-old has missed four games with a rib problem.</font></p></span>
