REDS defender Paul Reid has been made club captain ahead of the clash with Yeovil Town this weekend. Speaking today, Paul said: "Being made captain full time is an honour. I was fortunate enough to get the armband at Northampton during my time their and again last season when Tony Vaughan was out injured. "To be given the captaincy full time is a huge thing for me and I will have an extra spring in my step leading the lads out. It was a great feeling last season but I always knew at the back of my mind that the armband would go back to Tony when he was fit. Now I have been given it permanently it is a massive honour for me and my family".
I've heard on the grapevine that TV has been told he has to either prove himself in the reserves or go out on loan.
good news IMO A rate him as a player (preferably a centre half). Maybe we'll have him and Hassell at the back again on saturday. Here's hoping anyway.
does this mean that vaughan isnt guarenteed a regular place in the side seen as they have given the captains band to reid
I think the fact that Vaughan hasn't been picked to start a game yet is a better indication that he isn't guaranteed a regular place in the side.
RE: I think the fact that Vaughan hasn't been picked to start a game yet yeah i suppose, and i think thats good, nt a big fan myself. changing the subject a bit, have we got any big centre backs up and coming in the reserves or accademy? like the size of parkin or mogs who are willing to throw themselves about abit? just wondering?
RE: does this mean that vaughan should imagine so... AR has already picked Carbon/Kay ahead of Vaughan in the last 3 games. With Hassel and a full fit Reid(captain) back, he'll struggle to make the bench soon. Theres nothing between Carbon and Vaughan for me, i dislike them both. With a full squad to choose from, i think Vaughan's Ritchies 5th choice centre half, way things have been going.
RE: does this mean that vaughan it looks pretty bad for him then, seen as he is being kept out of the side by players who are actually midfielders in a way, eg reid n kay, could it be time for him to move on? i wouldnt miss him. could always look to bring a defende on loan from a bigger club then, like a younster wanting experience
RE: I think the fact that Vaughan hasn't been picked to start a game yet Ryan Laight. Hes a regular for the reserves at centre half. Not quite as big as Morgs or Parkin, will still show as much pride as morgs and certainly will throw himself about. He hasnt been given his chance yet.
Harban, Laight and Atkinson are all defenders with a squad number who have come though the academy. Haven't seen enough of any of them to comment though.
RE: I think the fact that Vaughan hasn't been picked to start a game yet oh yeah he came on for a run at the end of last season at home, think it was cos of the shortage of players tho. i no who u mean tho
