Seems an important role to me this season. We certianly have lacked a measure of leadership on the pitch. The captain needs to represent the players to the manager and the manager to the players off the pitch and be the leader on it. Reflecting on the Colchester disappointment, I wonder if Ritchie had midjudged the mood of the players. Just wonder if there was a mismatch between Ritchie's desire to play cautious at least for an hour and the players' desire to bounce back with an attacking display to lay the ghost of Scnuthorpe. Just a thought. A good captain would be a useful go-between in that context, either representing the thoughts of the players to the manager, or being able to help explain the reasons for the tactics chosen for a game. Yeovil have this new Argentinian striker available for Saturday. I just hope he is not another Ugarte - I know he's Spanish.
Good points there pal Reid didn't open his mouth all game setday.i like th elad but he needs to take a leaf out of vaughany's book and bust a few veins during 90 mins! Agree about the role a captain plays, Ritchie shud have had him on touchline after 20mins asking him what the f*ck he tought the lads were doing,Reid would then relay that back to certain members and change accordingley. I don't know about you,but if you were manager would you watch from touchline or stands?? For me its stands everytime, keep flitting up and down, you can't see s*it from touchline can yer? Look at Big Sam,Curbishley they all do it. Ritchie get thi sen a hands free set and get up in West stand setday, let old tricky ricky know when your not happy and he can bollock Mr Reid F*ck me i'd be good as manager, just 3 months thats all i want 3 months to give it a go
