Anyone done the paypal thing on the net? Ive heard people had problems with security when using this. Anyone had a good/bad experience?
Im thinking of using it to buy stuff on ebay

Found it Ok to buy. Some fraudsters try to buy through a 'paypal', but they are generally obvious, saying they wish the goods to be sent to Surelere, Lagos or somewhere like that in Nigeria.

Used it for both buying and selling on ebay - no problems

I got a query from Paypal recently asking if I could advise of my new details, metioning that my account could have been subject of a fraud. I used it once to pay for Keboard magazine. Since I used Paypal I have cancelled my card and not given them any new details. I suspect a scam and refused to use them again.

I have bought and sold stuff on ebay through them for years, never had a problem and find it very useful.

I once bought something that was subject to a scam - it was only a couple of quid - but of course the item never came. After two weeks Paypal refunded my money and sorted the issue out.

    RE: e mail

I have had an e mail supposedly from pay pal asking to update my details. It did not come from pay pal.I have had an e mail today from Lloyds tsb asking me to update my details. Again it was not from them. Some bent Barstewards will try anything.I have used pay pal for years without any problem.

Your email probably wasnt from Paypal

There are Phishing emails that look like they are from Paypall and have a link to a site that looks like the paypall site which asks you to put in your details. Its not its a site run by the fraudsters. check the URL when you are there

Standard advice if you ever get emails asking you to re enter stuff, ignore all links in the email and go to the paypal site directly.

    the general rule is

as with most such sites e.g banks, they will never e mail you asking you to confirm your details and make sure you never do this. and you will be fine, i have used it for years with no problems

    I've had that email

No company will send an email with a link on for you to give details - if you get one then go to the website by your usual link if you want to make changes.

Most telling thing with the fake paypal one though is it comes to my hotmail account yet my registered email with paypal is from my usual provider

    Paypal...........

I once had someone in Rumania attempting to access my account but they failed, and Paypal were excellent in informing me of what was happening. Toip marks to them.
