computer running slow pages take ages to load and supposed to be on high speed broadband connection,
on task manager cpu jumps through the roof when I try to open any web page.
I run avg ,superantispyware & ccleaner regularly and all take ages to complete even running disc cleanup takes forever, I have also
re-installed windows xp home to no avail, my keyboard also plays up sometimes unable to type without constant re-pressing letters and my mouse pointer flies across the screen for no apparent reason (batteries checked ok) serious replies appreciated if anyone can help.

    In relation to the speed

What speed is your router, if you have had it a while it could be one of the slow ones

    Get rid of AVG

If you want a free virus program try AVAST, otherwise pay for a decent one but not Norton.

Something funny seems to have happened with AVG recently.

It is doubtful it will have anything to do with the anti virus

If you have reinstalled windows yet you are still having problems. Have you checked your drivers are up to date, of your running a USB modem but havn't installed the chip drivers then you may have USB1. If its ethernet maybe you need to check those drivers.

Too many variables for it to be memory really but i would start there as that is the cheap result. Then hard drive then I'm afraid motherboard more so with the keyboard and mouse problems. One yes,,,,,both not often .

If you have 2 sticks of memory in, take them out one at a time and run on the one stick. see if it still shows the same problem, then by elimination work your way through the components,

Download Windows Defender, its free if your XP is Kosher , that helps with keeping crap off.
