My pc's four years old and struggles to cope with the demand of new software etc. Iv been told i could do with buying 1 or 2gb's of RAM.

Does anyone know of any places in Barnsley that offer the service at a reasonable price. Also, how much would I be looking at for 2gb installing? Cheers

It depends on what type of memory it is

as to the exact price. Some of the older memory is ironically now more expensive cos it's out of production. Also, depending on your motherboard you might need one, two or even three sticks to make up the total. Shouldn't be too expensive though. They shouldn't charge you much for installation because it's just a matter of slotting the chuffer in. Avoid crappy no name memory cos it'll bite you on the backside. I've fallen for that one before. Had to drop the latencies and all sorts to get it to run stable. So in summary, I'm not much help.

don't pay for it, put it in yourself!

check what RAM the motherboard supports then search for it based on that

    GO to Crucial online

They have a scanner that will tell you what you need how much you have and the best configuration plus it isn't that bad memory and a fair enough price as well.

    Agreed check crucial on line

There are cheaper places, but their site will check your PC and advise on the amount and type of RAM your motherboard has. RAM is to some extent backwards compatible. Their helpsite is very good too. The use an instant messaging type approach.
