A friend has sent me this in an email - his initial problem is that is system is running slow/hanging whilst on internet. He's on Tiscali broadband. I downloaded the latest IE which has visible changes but not solved the problem. I have found a folder that it wont open, saying that "the disk in drive C is not formated, do you want to format it now?" When I try to delete the folder it gives an error message. So that sounds like part of my C drive partioning is damaged. However, I also have a problem when on the internet in that although it will bring a page up the progress bar at the bottom dosnt complete for a while and it "hangs" while doing so. Are the two problems related? Windows explorer works ok until I am in the parent folder of the damaged folder. Other applications work unless I use one to open that folder / its parent folder. When opening the parent folder it hangs for ages but always displays the children folder. All its child folders hang exept the one it wont open. Any ideas?
Sounds to me like... You're setting yourself up for a board "wit" to tell you his computer needs fixing. Wonder who it will be.</p>
Try this Click start, select run, type in "cmd" this will bring up a black window (DOS), then type FORMAT C: and say yes to all quiestions - should fix the folder, you can then reload your operating system and all your installed programs and hey presto - its fixed! Please don't do this, I'm only joking.
Serious suggestion Click start, select run, type in "cmd" this will bring up a black window (DOS), then use the CD command to find the offending folder, then try the RMDIR command to delete it.
