Evening all. Give the reds a shout for me on Saturday. Should be somewhere between Abbeville and Beauvais at kick off time on day 3 of the ride. Some generous folk out there. http://www.justgiving.com/AndyHardy2015
Hi mate - I promise I will get round to donating a little over the weekend. Just wanted to wish you luck - any advice, just ask, alhough "pedal like Joe B@st@rd" is about the crux of it Great cause - the place names you mentioned evoked memories of my effort two years ago. Started in Paris, stopped in Beauvais (stayed at a Formula 1) first night, then Le Touquet 2nd night after a long day which passed through Abbeville. Day three was Le Touquet to Ashford, then the finale was Ashford to London. Beauvais is semi-industrial but we went into the town on the night and it was beautiful - bit of a festival going on in the town square, very French. Make time to pass the cathedral at Abbeville, what an amazing structure that is, stunningly beautiful. Worst part by far was Ashford to London - rain and traffic (especially out of Dover - so we took back country route). Riding through France was a pleasure, and not difficult. That said, it is a 'trophy ride' so the adrenaline is always going. Bit like walking the 3 Peaks - there are more difficult walks but because it is a bit of a 'marque' walk it seems to take it out of you. Great cause - stay safe and I wish you the very best of luck. Wish I was coming with you.
Without wishing to bore you mate .... I found the need to dig through my pics. Hope they help get you in the zone Northern France. Proper riding country Proper riding country Beauvais Town square - there was a charity gig on for Cancer charity - we bought the shirt and rode in it. Well earned beers after day one.
More .... Abbeville cathedral. Older than BigLil and just as beautiful Halfway between Beauvais and Abbeville. That was a long day, 92 miles. Beautiful coastal road between Le Touquet and Calais
Last ones I promise Above Dover en route to Ashford. Lovely evening. Oh how it would change Ashford to London - 5 hours of this. Beer with Horatio - before wringing our socks out.
Much obliged chaps. It's been a fantastic day. Good banter and plenty of swearing climbing Dover Hill after 70 miles. Just trying to take it all in. Au revoir
