He was trying to chip but scuffed it ........
Scores that and we'd have steamrollered them, was our best period of the match.

You'd rather mention that than McCourt's goal? Blimey!
It was a bad miss, but I think he's a tremendous player and thought he had a very good game today.

That was an attempt at a chip? I thought he was trying to sidefoot it into the corner of the net past the keeper

He was unmarked so should have taken a few more steps for a closer attempt and then blasted it in the goal. That said things all started to go wrong when he got subbed off.

I didn't see any threads about Pederson's miss but saw a hundred about McCourt's so didn't think it necessary to go adding another. It was a very, very good goal though. One of those where I always wonder just what the striker is thinking at the time 'right i'll just drag it round this lad here, oops ok round this one next then i can shoot. oh f*** me there's another one. FINE round you too' (and so on).

Now back to Pederson's miss. As I said above, I thought it was an attempt at a side foot into the corner not a scuffed chip. It wasn't actually the miss that I was commenting on, more the decision to try to place it into the corner like that which seemed a weird one. Obviously if he was chipping it it makes a lot more sense. Pederson is also a very good player who at times can show a touch of class.

I agree, think Pederson was trying to loft it in and scuffed it. The petulance of youth...

Would've been game over, but let's not be too harsh on him.

    My first reaction was

He'd tried side footing it in. Others sat round me suggested he'd scuffed an attempted chip.

I'm certainly not going to criticise such a talented, committed, young player for missing a chance.

He had a go while the keeper was retreating but cocked up, it happens, good quick thinking ball from O`Brien to pick him out in the first instance.

As said in other posts, I thought he was outstanding today. First time I have seen him - well impressed.

    Re: My first reaction was

IMO he saw the goalkeeper off his line and attempted a chip over, his body shape suggested that, he seemed to take his eye off the ball though

He & O'Grady are certainly a handful and, along with McCourt and Scotland, will be the players to get us out of this mess, provided they avoid serious injury.

Nearly as bad as M'voto's miss against Hudds.

    Re: My first reaction was

He's a good player with a great attitude. Even when he was knackered and Scotland was waiting to come on he kept running for the team. A pleasure to watch.
