I prefer to think that you can't keep employing a bad manager just for the sake of it. If we look at the last few managers sacked at this level, the only one that was a bad decision was Robins. Some sackings didn't have the desired effect such as Nigel Spackman but he definitely deserved to go. However, Machin was a vast improvement on Clarke, Bassett did a far better job than Hendrie and we would have been relegated in 2009/10 if Robins had not replaced Davey. I've seen enough from Hill to believe he is not up to the job and never will be. If we don't win tomorrow he should walk.
Robins was unfortunate rather than bad. If he wasn't up for the challenge then best he left. Always felt sorry for John Hendrie, his record wasn't that bad, but expectations were high and the problem was that the players could not take him seriously as a gaffer, as he was still the biggest clown in the dressing room! January is crucial as to how the season will pan out. We'll have to see what toys are left in the box and what else we can pick up in the sales.
Explain that first sentence to me, because from what I can see, you're implying the club knows that certain managers aren't up to the job before they employ them?
Hendrie was a very poor appointment by the club, largely for the reasons given above. But there was a spell in his tenure before we sold Ward and when Hignett arrived when it clicked and we were beautiful. Spanked Huddersfield, Ipswich, first team to win away at The Stadium of Light. But it all started to unravel when Ward went. Was at Bury away when the first Hendrie Out chants started.
I think he means that Hill is a bad manager, and we can't not sack him just for the sake of not sacking a manager.
