And rightly so, but Hourihane in this sort of form is going to be difficult to keep hold of in January. Another goal, another assist - and we're only 40 mins in today.
I've said it all along, he's fantastic. Yes, he had some things to work on last season but it was his first ever season in League 1 and I think he adjusted marvellously - being our top goal scorer and Player of the Year. Then again, some people are never happy!
still think it's been more to do with LJ finally getting himself sorted out tactics wise. Isn't this what we have all been calling for really though, having a go at the opposition, especially when they are in a similar position to ourselves.
He was in poor form for a lot of 2015 - but over the last couple of months he's back to what we saw at the start of last season.
In a post earlier this week I said he'd be voted player of the season again if he was still here after January. The way he's playing I won't be surprised to see him receiving attention from other clubs when the transfer window opens.
He went off the boil earlier in the season but then he knew that if he didn't score from midfield we likely wouldn't get a goal. Now those he's a capable midfielder scorer in the form of Adam Hammill to help take some pressure off him and it's working brilliantly. Lets hope next weekend he scores in his 5th consecutive league game and that he's still around long enough to break the Vardy record
he wont be going anywhere, hes in good form but he's not messi. flip it around and can you imagine the outcry on here if we were signing players from the bottom of league one
Realism? A struggling League One team has a midfielder who is probably set for his second season of ~15 goals. Would attract at least some interest in my eyes.
We had this last year. Then further down the line in one game we had the substitution of our midfielder cheered and clapped by many of the Oakwell faithful.
That was an embarassing time to be a Barnsley fan. The first half of last season he was good for us, but the first half of this season despite our league position I reckon he's done even better.
Hammill has played a big part in Connor's upturn for me. There is clearly a belief in the team now that they can score goals because of AH's presence.
