This is getting ridiculous now with all the doom and gloom. Now even these trialists are useless without people actually seen them. Foster was no good because he came from Burnley reserves, these are probably the same people who thought Hendrie was past it and that DeZeuw was useless because nobody knew of him. These people need to be more positive and only pass judgement when they have the knowledge and evidence to support their arguments.
The lads people are talking about are academy cast offs. One from Hull! Why aren't we using out own academy lads to fill any voids in the squad?
I do agree in part. But why are we looking at players that are deemed not good enough for other teams? Especially Hull! And kids too, we don't need more kids. We need experience.
We've tried youngsters before from Premiership teams - Mannone, Richie Jones and Rigters, and the first two at least were miles off being good enough.
I know sometimes discarded players can be good enough for other teams at high level, but I just can't excited about looking at a 19 year old cast off from Hull

I spose. But why not look at those who have been released who have experience?
Like others have said, why offer contracts to our younger players then never play them? We'll never see the benefits of our own academy if we sign everyone elses cast offs. It's worrying seeing as Davey was academy manager and so should know a bit about these young 'uns.
Like SM has said...what's happened to these 'significant funds' that's has meant we're turning to 19 year old rejects?

Perhaps.. the manager and board cannot persuade better players to come to the club? Perhaps we cannot pay enough? Perhaps it's because it's Barnsley?
RE: Perhaps.. Possibly.
We've attracted good quality in the past though, so what's changed?
Too old fashioned in our approach? Not offering the right sort of terms? (not necessarily too low wages, but perhaps just not well structured). I don't know, pure speculation, but I just wish I could get more excited over new signings.

I imagine we do offer poor wages comparitively, but I'd rather us stick to a wage structure we can afford in comparison to our attendances, merchandising etc than overspend and go into administration again, even if that did mean relegation. The dream for me is a self sufficient club with occasional kind gifts from Cryne
What so we jumped from £600 to £3,500? I think I'm missing your point. Thick **** that I am
I agree, but I don't want to see us return to League 1 with a team full of no hopers again. We have some very decent players, but some not so decent, and I can't help but think we should push the boat out in special circumstances. We need to become genuinely competitive.
Yeah perhaps your right. I certainly wouldn't be upset at paying Howard £5k a week. Trouble is I bet after Blackpool and maybe Donny we have the lowest income in the league and our wages will reflect that. thats why we have had to look abroad and find gems like Foster who aren't wanted or star playes at their clubs
