I wonder at the motivation. Salute the support you give the team and all that, but considering the expense (and what I assume to be generally fairly s**t treatment) I'm amazed that anyone would bother. I often wonder whether the couple of mile journey from home is really justified! Is it lack of other interests/outlets?
It's a day out for me. (I don't go to all, but most...) Especially this season as there are a few new grounds for me. I also like to go and watch a team playing good attacking, organised, free flowing football. Sometimes we cheer The Reds on as well if the other team don't manage it
I wouldn't say motivation is an issue for me. I'd love to go to every home and away game but other commitments and money get in the way of me getting to the away games.
I USED to enjoy away trips but I've witnessed some real dross over the last few years which sadly has sucked the life out of a desire to attend' Hopefully the spark will be reignited in 2015
The local games are becoming a bit of a chore of late, but still love the full day out ones, it stopped being about the football and became more about seeing mates and have a 12 hour session years ago for me so that's why I still go to every game
Go to most away games and for me the football is a side show, it's the day out I enjoy. I enjoy the day almost the same whether we win or get tonked, it's about being with mates, having a few drinks and a laugh. At the ground as long as the atmosphere is good and it's a laugh, I'm not that fussed how well we play, as long as we look like we're competing. That's why I'm still attending after 8 years of losing more often than not and would continue doing so even if we dropped to League Two. The only thing that occasionally puts me off is the price of a ticket and the treatment fans recieve.
Precisely this^ Been going regularly away for 3 years and not a lot puts me off, other than the money. Going away from home and enjoying the day in a new place, even more so with an unexpected win, is infinitely more enjoyable than trudging down to Oakwell expecting the team to at least put up a fight and not even getting that half the time. As for doing "other things", there is not a lot more I would like to be doing on a Saturday than being with friends, having a few pints and travelling the country to watch our team. I won't be able to do that every week forever, so I'm making the most of it now
I used to be an infrequent away traveller then a friend got ill and I sort of promised him I would go to as many matches as possible as he couldn't get. This rolled up into me not missing an away game for years. A habit I have broken this season after his death. I still enjoy away games much more than home games and will go to grounds I haven't been to. I think I've missed 4 away games thus season including Chester and Oldham in the cups. Cost is an issue but no more than going out for a good meal or a big session. It's allowed me and the missis to visit loads of places we would otherwise never gave been to. I have travelled all over the world but before the away odyssey I hadn't travelled much in my own country.
Was he the little **** that got banned? Very similar got to admit. Childish, negative wind up merchant. With ***** dress sense.
