If Bolton get an early goal, we might as well not even bother with the home leg. I've never known any Barnsley team over the years incapable of turning a defeat into a win.
Our apparent inability to win from a losing position is a little worrying, but like all runs, they eventually come to an end and there's no reason why this one shouldn't end in our next game. COYR
I'm not writing us off, but we've just lost to a team that finished 9 points behind us and last week couldn't beat a team that has been relegated!
Well yes, but if we lose at Bolton then that it's not the case we can't end up going to Wembley, because its a new game at Oakwell rather than a continuation of the semi final.
Form and confidence going into the play offs is everything, just look at us in 2016. Bolton have won 3 out of their last 4 games conceding 3. We’ve won 1 out of our last 4 games and conceded 9. It’s not unfair for supporters to be less optimistic for this seasons play offs especially those that have actually watched the matches, we’ve largely been below average since the Wednesday match.
We went into the playoffs under Big Val on a decent run of form and got beat by Swansea who were treading water by the end of the season. Form in your last run of games certainly helps with confidence etc but any team is only as good as your next game.
If you don't think we will win then please don't spend any money and don't go. You have lost nothing then. We have come 4th and had a great season and got our moneys worth so far. If you want to cheer the team on for the next two games, go a sing your hearts out. You reds, I'm glad Peterborough are in the playoffs and not Derby. Bolton are decent and we will have to earn a trip to Wembley. You reds can't wait.
They didn't just write off our chances, many condemned us to league 2 before a ball had even been kicked!
We’ve had a very good season overall, but I think it’s fair to say that our chances are a lot less now, than if the play offs had started in mid march when we were in very good form. The nature of the goals we’ve conceded is worrying and if Mads isn’t fit, Duff is going to have to pick a least bad option for third centre back / right wing back combination
In a game they needed to win. It was clear to me today that we had one eye on next week. Pulling out of tackles, not pressing too hard, being more direct.
