The recruitment has been pretty shambolic. The team is really unbalanced. I know I might be in the minority but I think our defensive line is poor. Like really poor. Thats not his fault. I can’t say I like the way he chucks players under the bus but I think firing him off the back of that would be kneejerk, unfair and not very well thought out I have to say the decision making at the higher levels at our club really concerns me. I wasn’t a fan of Collins but the decision to sack him when they did was totally nuts. Failure to sign a striker when it was obvious Cole was leaving. Thumb hammer or whatever he was called and his work permit ? Let’s be honest , not exactly befitting of a 8 figure turnover business. Then on to the recruitment - see above - it’s inexcusable to be honest. We are skint, which is a problem , so we need to sell to survive , but actually the fact that we are skint means that decisions will be under much more scrutiny , with less margin for error.
I would tonight. There are also 6 or 7 players who should never play for us again. The recruitment is terrible. Part of that terrible recruitment was Clarke. He isn’t anywhere near good enough.
Poor recruitment doesn't excuse poor management. That we happen to have both doesn't mean poor management gets a free pass. IMHO and all that.
I do agree with that and I’m not exactly bowled over by him , but I don’t think he’s had a fair hit either.
I just haven’t a clue what his plan is , his tactics , his substitutions I’ve no idea what he’s trying to do ,not only from game to game but during the game . Maybe no plan is the new plan
He won the lottery when we went for him after a relegation season with his previous club never taken a club out of this league the way we want to get out of it. Some managers like players have a level his is L2 and if he stays that's were we will end up.
Couldn’t care less. He’s crap - it’s clear - but he won’t be replaced by anyone any better and I can’t see them recruiting the playing staff we need to make enough of a difference either. This isn’t managed decline so much as kamikaze wrecking ball destruction. The soul has gone from the club. There was more positivity and energy around the club under Glyn Hodges when we needed a last minute winner from Isaiah Rankin to stay up in this league. We’d had ridiculous lows leading to that point but to me this feels worse. Death by a thousand cuts. The club that I’ve loved for over three decades just isn’t the same. It’s had the heart ripped out of it. It’s more bottling Barnsley than battling Barnsley these days. The apathy in the stands, the fact this pisses me off but doesn’t effect me emotionally as much as it would have even four or five years ago - today sums up how I’m feeling about it really. I’m disappointed we lost and annoyed how poor we are - but I really don’t feel like I care that much, certainly not how I used to. Yes there’s more important things in life and I’m older etc etc - but this was my big passion, my release from work and family stresses. Where I vented. I just feel a bit ‘meh’ now. The fire has gone. Maybe it will reignite at some point.
Have felt that way for a while and sadly the numbers feeling that way are growing week after week. Crynes sold to owners who thought they could make money for themselves by running the Club like a corner shop and churning players and coaches season after season but many fans said that model, the way they were implementing it would fail because there was no selective selling every window was an everything must go fire sale but the fans warnings weren't heeded and it's left us with a hollowed out squad and a club needing £millions to keep it going with nothing but tatt left to sell and owners who are probably starting to get worried by their quickly decreasing bank balances. If only Deadpool had bought us instead of Wrexham.
Well I agree with you that he shouldn't be sacked. The problems off the field need addressing but it's mistake after mistake after mistake. My biggest issue is that they clearly aren't learning.
I think it's unfair to say he's crap with the team/squad he's had to pick from. You don't get multiple promotions like he has by being a crap manager. If we back him with some quality signings maybe we'd see some half decent football.
And I still think the absolute rot, the real problem here, is with the owners. And these days it really doesn't matter who they appoint, because they are always going to be the issue here. Anyway you lot will get your wish soon, like we did with Collins, so well done there!. And we'll be out of pocket by having to pay him off, and we'll have to do it all over again, probably in January. Wonderful, I can't wait!.
Yeah I'm not saying managers/coaches are without blame, and I've called for a few of them to be sacked over the years. But the players must be held accountable when they go onto the pitch, and play like they haven't had any coaching at all.
