If I went to the Cinema and was not satisfied with the film that I had seen or the service that I received then I might make a complaint to the Manager or just not bother going again. Obviously the cinema is a service provider in the entertainment industry. Similarly, BFC is a provider of entertainment and facilities, that we all love and cherish. Why has it come to be that we think we can criticise and demand action at our club, which is essentially a private company which provides a service - and have so much to say about the machinations and the running of it? Why have we not got a Bulletin Board set up for the local flix to discuss the managers decision to put old Betty on the Popcorn kiosk, cos she dribbles into the syrup - or put spotty Frank ont he ticket machine cos he's downright rude to customers? I know I'm drawing daft comparisons but why has it come about that we all feel such passion - which often borders on psychoticism (is that a word) when something we disagree with happens? No wonder there is such a siege mentality at Oakwell.
I've been a season ticket holder for 30years and love going to watch the Super Reds. I've indoctrinated my daughters into being season ticket holders and theylove going too. At the end of the day it's entertainment but I for one care far more than that - i couldn't give two shits if I never went to the cinema again! On the other hand a balance has to be struck about how much and why we think we can influence a club. Is this situation unique to football clubs? I think a bit of perspective is required with the Howie situation. I remember crying when Trevor Aylott left the club, I think to Man City because I thought he was brilliant and didn't want to see him go. (I was only young!!!). We are the creators of our own ills to some extent with the rise of the money men in football, and whilst having what I consider to be good service from Brian Howard regarding his exploits at Cardiff, Wembley and the cup run for example, he will and can be replaced. The fact that he's gone to the Pigs doesn't bother me in the slightest cos we will be responsible for our own season, not them - that's if he gets a game! I wish him good luck as I did with Chris Morgan, but time to move on and keep the good memories.

My team for Satruday if you're still reading:

Muller/ Steele - can't decide yet - does one bad game make Muller want a better game, whereas Steele didn't deserve to be dropped

Hassell Foster Souza Kozluk
JCR Colace Devanay
Leon
Hume Macken/Mossto

You'd complain to the cinema manager if you didn't like the film? Not sure there's much he could do about it mate.
So we should just sit back and agree with everything that happens down Oakwell? Like good little fans Infact i'm going to stop voting, we should agree with everything the Local Council and Government do with our money. And later tonight if i go in a pub and the beer is **** i'm going to stop in that pub and keep drinking it all night.
If cinemas only showed films with people like Steven Segal or Hulk Hogan then no one would ever go to the cinema. Because you know the film would be ****. Barnsley FC are fast becoming the football equivalant of a Steven Segal film.
Think you missed my point with the post... I wouldn't complain if i didn't like the film, but the service etc might make me complain. Was simply trying to draw a daft comparison and stimulate a discussion about why we feel so passionately about a club that we have no other influence over other than being people who go and watch what is produced! thanks for replying tho. :$
Where does it say that we should agree like good little fans? If you read the post again I'm simply asking why we are so passionate about a football club that is ultimately a service in the entertainment industry. If I had bought into Ebbsfleet Utd and was a shareholder who could effect things then perhaps I could understand it. Why has the football club come to be seen as part of the community rather than the business they profess to be? I can't see that you can compare the council and government, who are rightly elected to represent us with BFC - your argument is flawed. I am in no way saying that we should refrain from expressing our oopinions at the clubs direction, players etc, but simply wanted people's perspective on why they feel so passionately about something that they pay £22 quid a week for.
Because it don't matter who owns the club it will never be their club it will be ours and the outcome of most Managers positions comes from pressure from the fans. A Saturday night out when the reds win is a much happier one ( if you remember them ).
