On the way home I heard a guy on P&G who said it was time for Davey to go. What a load of B*ll*cks. Yes we were poor, yes we lost to a poorer team. We all know where the problem lies so lets give Davey and Cryne till the end of Jan to see what they can do. This team has improved beyond recognition since Davey has been in charge, his achilles heel is the strikers but we all know proven ones don't come cheap. Everyone is looking for that cheap 20 goal a season striker and this is definately the hardest position to fill. Mistakes and bad buys will happen, lets hope they get the next one/two right.

    Keep the faith!

    Well said mate

I think we all expected a win today, against a poor team.

Yes, we played badly. Yes, they defended deep and played on the counter only now and then. We still should have won. If we would have buried them early chances then we would have won easy.

The problems we have are fairly easy to see.

    1. Decent first XI, but reserves / subs not good enough - a problem known by most of the Championship sides, moneybags teams excluded.
    2. No natural goalscorers - Cureton is the nearest but at his age and this level he's just a finisher reallly, not going to run teams ragged. Missed one he should have scored today (under or over the keeper, not chest height) , but great goals v Burnely & Preston, biggest goal threat we've got ... which says a lot for the rest ....
    3. Anderson Da Silva - makes the team tick, whenever he doesn't play, neither do we. Best midfielder since Hignett / Redfearn even though he doesn't have the goals.

Apart from that we are a decent Championship side.

El Haimour & Rigters didn't look Championship standard today, Butterfield in his cameo did, Van Homoet looks like he's improving, Bobby Hassell had a good game but should stop shooting (like Claude Makele banned himself from) .

Good news Mossto has gone, should free up some wages.

    January - OUTS
    Rigters- Loan Return
El Hamouir - Season long Loan to League 1 side locally (Huddersfield, Oldham etc) to see if he can settle
Odejayi - Will not cut it at this level despite his brilliant FA Cup performance / goal - back to League 1
Johnson - is he still here? No one seems to know. Cancel contract if so.

    January - INS
Premiership Loan Striker to replace Rigters
Buy striker to replace Odejayi & Mossto
Buy Left Winger to replace El Haimour
Buy experienced (30+) central midfield player cheap to stand in for Anderson / Colace when injured

    Anyway, according to soccerbase ....

he played 3 league games, plus 3 as sub & an FA Cup game .....

High Green Red, I hear and see what you're saying about giving Davey the chance until the end of January for us to see what he will do. Thats fine in principal. But, what happens to him if he fails to bring in a sriker? Once the window has shut and if no striker is found. What are our chances of survival? If the latter turns out to be the case what do we do with a manager who tries to close the preverbial stable door after the horse has bolted?Do you have sufficient confidence in the man to assess the quality and identify a good striker because I don't? Finally, and for what it's worth I do recall having heard somehere, perhaps from Davey himself in his reaction to the Ward situation, that he was'nt willing to pay what Ward was wanting and that the player would have had to prove himself first. Should that have been the case it implies they could have signed him on those terms but chose not to because of his inexperience and I agree. I would seem therefore the club will have sufficient funds in place to meet a higher wage demand should a quality striker be found. Just trying to analyse Davy's discourse and what what said after the failure to sign Ward. From a personal point of view however he should have,in place very soon, another striker from his so called long list of players. If he fails with this one and a dog fight ensues to ward off relegation he should be dismissed forthwith. There are quiet a few mixed messages within my post but I, like many more ,are unsure and confused with Mr. Davey.
