i found out today how much Paul Jewell was on at Derby per annum - £2m

When he was asked to take a salary cut if they got relegated, he simply refused, knowing that a number of other clubs would happily employ him. Resultantly he received a huge pay off from Derby. Allegedly.

I would have loved for us to employ Jewell, Curbishley or Coppell but these are the figures they will be demanding.

Good luck Mark Robins. Its a gamble, but a gamble we've got to take.

    Interesting to read that.

When you consider that at £20,000 per week (now that not necessarily what he'd get today in the Championship) but that would be able to afford us Mark Robins plus a pretty decent centre back, perhaps a full back as well I would've hoped.

I'm happy to take Mark Robins for what he has done at Rotherham, but when you look at figures like those - all the more happy.

RE: How much do you think we werer paying SD?

If it was a quarter of that amount I think we'd been getting properly ripped off. In fact if anybody asked me what Simon Davey was on I'd have said £150,000 - £200,000 p/a. Which I think is a hell of a whack.

    Over £40k a week?

Either I've mucked up the calculations or you're talking sh*t.

    You sure........

I remember that Sam Allardyce was offered £3m a year to take charge of Newcastle United and become the Premiership's third best paid manager behind Jose Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson. Now that was a couple of years ago, but I can't see Derby being any where near that league.
