Unless you have a name that works very well - eg if you were called Tess Kay and got TE55 KAY, fair enough.
If you get one where you have to shunt things round and use distorted numbers to make them look like letters, forget it. It just makes you look a lovely person.

Surely it depends on your own values?

I wouldn't bother with one but I can understand why some people like them.

Mine has BFC in it

As happy to put my money where my heart is. I like mine, don't really care what anyone thinks, and work in Hudds at Galpharm sometimes so like to show my true colours. Then again, I don't like boring cars like Volvos and such but wouldn't slag someone off for having one.

Have just been playing abart on one of the sites and I could get my first name initial followed by my full second name (I'm a "son" therefore 50N) for £6,000. I think I'll just stick to having a life though.

II don't thin k you can get away with it..........

....even if you can make a straight word without any fannying about.

I could have applied for W1NDY when it came out, the 1 looks like an I as well, but it's just not on is it?

As for using numbers and different shaped letters and studs you might as well just cut them all up and rearrange them to spell ******.

I paid £500 for mine

and it's not a fannied about job with studs and dodgy letters so it looks ok.

I thought twice but what swung it is that I've never known these things to go down in value, so you keep it 10 years or so until it bores you then sell it on again - you should at least get your money back.

I'd love to know how much the council could get now for THE 1 and THE 2. How much did they pay for them? - anybody know?

No

Because when it boils down to it very few would actually be really personalised.

You either get someone who breaks the law by changing numbers to llok like a letter.....I've seen a 7 made to like more like an I, or using studs, or changing spacing etc - these people should be issued with on the spot fines

or you get one that wouldn't mean anything and is really just a normal plate - like the TE55 KAY that Revvie put.... it's 55 not SS, so to all intents and purposes that could just be the actual registration than a personalisation, many of these you only realise it's a "personalised" plate because they end up with a new model car with a plate that is much older.
