dint look like he tried to knee him at all, just trying to put pressure on the keeper early on but couldnt stop.

    Coppell - looked an accident.
As Alan Shearer said, you wouldn't go with the knee deliberately as you'd risk injuring yourself, if you were going in deliberately you'd go in with the studs.

    And he should know!

It's not what Hunt did that was wrong. It is what he didn't do. He didn't jump clear when it was obvious that the keeper had set course to claim the ball and would get there. In no way did he seem deliberately to injury Cech, but his action in not pulling out of the challenge, when he could have done, led to the injury. I can remember getting some knocks palying in goal - you are trained to be positive and command the box - you keep low to collect the ball in order to give the forward maximum chance of avoiding you and give you minimum chance of injury. Hunt should have pulled out, either vaulting over the keeper, or falling over him - you see it all the time in challenges on keepers. On the other hand, no way was it deliberate injury. Anyone remember the worst act of thuggery of an English football field in the 60s/70s when the Sunderland winger, Tom Finney (not THE Tom Finney) went in studs up on Charlton keeper Graham Tutt and all but took his eye out. They did not dare show the injury on live tv, but some mags carried it and it was x-rated. Hunt's challenge was no way of that order, but he did not intend the injury.

seriously though it looked as though it was a very unlucky injury-hardly seemed to be any contact at all. best wishes to him, even if he does play for them lot

First couple of times I saw the incident I thought it was an accident. After seeing it yesterday a few times, and also the photo clips in the paper today it looks more and more like he went in with the knee.

Cech had the ball for a couple of seconds. The player could have jumped out of the way but chose to bend his knee, AND LOOK at Cech whilst doing it!

More serious though, questions need to be asked of Mike Riley. 1st incident he asked Cech to walk off the field if he wanted treatment, and 2nd incident he delayed the physio coming onto the field.

My view is that Hunt adjusted his last step back a tad causing his leg to buckle and catch Cech on the bonce.

No way did he intend to hurt the 'keeper.

    Pure accident.
Looked to me that Hunt put the brakes on and partially lost his footing. A common sight in modern football.

Cech came in sliding and his momentum carried him into the area where the collision took place.
