    In my mind I don't see him as a premiership defender ( yes I know he's at palace )

    Lets be honest we aren't brilliant at the back and he has played for some relatively successful teams, although I don't think our mentality of midfielders going backwards and dallying on the ball has helped our defence.

    I'd say he's probably played more games in the Premier than at Championship level, but only just.

    We're short at full back

    but we've signed a centre half on loan that is arguably no better than what we've already got. Hope I proved wrong, but smacks of a signing for the sake of it.

    Good defender from what I remember in his Toon days, made the move south and was one of the early decent money signings as part of the 'four year plan'.

    No nonsense defender. Can play right full back

    It frees Wiseman up to play at FB. And I would argue he is as good as our better players and better than some so Iimproves the match squad.

    Played nearly every game last year as first choice and scored 4 goals..might not be a bad signing
