What's everyone's thoughts? Do we think he'll play for Barnsley again? Would you like to see him here next season?

Personally, I like Ramage, seems a good pro and a very likeable person. But he was part of a poor defence that got us relegated last season and has hardly done well this time round. Also, he's much slower than Steve Foster was when we showed him the door and is always injured.

Imagine we'll try and retain Cranie and Nyatanga whichever league we're in but guessing we've probably seen the last of Big Jean and Ramage.

    What's everyone else think?

He would make a good coach, he is a good mentor too for the young lads. As for player very injury prone and how can we change a defence at the min we have conceded 2 goals in 8 games I belive. Think nytanga will be here next season not sure about cranie hope so though.

    Yeah, I agree with that.

Ramage and M'Voto will be on their way in the summer.

You can't have a bloke like M'Voto in the squad, even as back-up. I love him for the same reasons he has to be moved on: it's like watching a new-born lamb on jelly-legs when he plays, and 90 per cent of his passes seem to slide as though it's an ice-rink.

I'd think that Cranie is a very high earner for a League One club (assuming we don't win the play-offs!) and you could perhaps get two or even three high-end players for next season with his wages.

Yes cranie will be a high earner we tried to get shut last summer to get him off wage bill. He was training with blackpool but nothing came of it. He will have to take a pay cut or move on to a championship club. Class player on his day at this level had a great game saturday.

Problem with keeping him as a coach (if we can) is that the present management team will see him as a threat to their own jobs maybe and, in any case, is there a vacancy? You can't just invent jobs that don't exist when the club is running on a tight budget.

Also I can't see him wanting to hang his boots up just yet. I like him very much but it's hard to find a place for him at the moment. No idea what is going to happen with him really but, whatever does, we should thank Peter Ramage for his professionalism, good defensive displays and, of course, the goals!

It only takes one red card for things to change. What better man to have on the bench.Ramage could still have a part to play for us.

it was much more than a poor defence that got us relegated last season. What about the absolutely ***** mid field, that offered little going forwards and even less when protecting that defence that got us relegated.
Ramage may have been part of that defence, but he was the best part,by a country mile.

If he can accept a pay cut i'd take him, but he'd be on about 7-8k per week

Completely wrong imo. We have been poor defensively prior to this run no matter who was in back four. I don't necessarily blame the back four either because we were poor all over the pitch. Ramage hasn't played in this defence since the turn of form and you don't play for the club's he has and in the top 2 divisions constantly if u are a bad player. Ramage for me is one of the best defenders if not the best at the club. His positioning and organising skills are Top notch. Can't believe that just cos we have hit form, ppl are saying ta ta. A good player in a bad side ramage has been this season and last. If he was on this back four with this run of form, everyone would be begging him to stay. All it ever needed was a manager to pick the right formation and players within our squad to play it and we were always gonna see these type of performances. Keep Ramage. I'd agree to let m'Voto go tho. Opinions eh?? Lol

I like him. I'd sign him. IMHO the poor defensive displays earlier in the season were primarily down to a lack of protection from the rest of the team. We've sorted that out and I'd expect him to perform if he was in the team. I wouldn't drop Nyatanga or Cranie at the moment though. He'd have to fight for his place.

Let him go, be on too much money for next seasons budget. Not been impressed with him this season.

I love the passion and commitment Ramage brings to the team playing with real heart and desire. At the same time his legs aren't getting any younger or the injuries any less regular. I'm not sure that as a player he brings enough to the table at his age to warrant the wages he would expect and both his lack of pace and suspect passing don't seem to fit into the way our new manager wants is to play. Shame though.

I think Ramage is captain material as he's very vocal but I don't think we should bust a gut to keep him. Having him on loan until end of season has been beneficial from a coaching perspective but from a playing one, not very...his last games I can remember not having the greatest of games and being at fault for some of the goals.

Agree with M'Voto, don't think we'll see him at end of season. I think Nyatanga will still be here. Been a consistent person in the squad this season. Cranie, unless it's a 75/80% wage cut I wouldn't bother keeping him. Versatile yes but not captain and and wages would be better spent elsewhere. Maybe if Ramage was a cheaper option wage wise. steady replacement. Not forgetting you could Holgate there and but Bree at full back when he's back.

Ramage is a very good pro. A leader who whilst being unspectacular seems to make good decisions. I like Big John. If it wasn't for his occasional ricket he would be a premiership player, with his size, speed and heading power. His mistakes make him a league one player but thats where we play.

I think unless he accepted 2-3k a week to stay on then we should probably look for someone younger and less prone to injuries. Great player but not available too often and so we can't be using up too much budget taking a chance on him. Plus we've not missed him as the defence is our strongest part of the team.

Agree but remember last season when he and Crainey got injured within a week of each other. It sealed our relegation.

Hard to believe Ramage is only 31. Looks and runs like a 36-year-old. Would be amazed if he's here next season. Can't help but like him though, a very likeable man and good professional.

His lack of pace is a worry but he is a good player and we need reliability. Oh and the best cb that I have seen down the Well ( Futch ) was also the slowest.

I think because of the way he plays his body has taken a real battering and he's starting to suffer.

How did Ramage and Cranie getting injured seal our relegation. We'd only won about 5 games all season with them in the team.

Get rid of him, hes overrated and we can't afford to be paying good money for injury prone over 30s.
