really? speed cameras mean that you have to drive past them at the legal limit (or lower) and do no damage to your car. Speed bumps mean that you have to drive over them at around half the legal speed limit (sometimes a lot slower), damage your car and encourage drivers to swerve into the middle of the road to avoid them.
and the main motoring organisations state that speed cameras have caused more accidents than they have prevented...speed humps are put in accident black spots thereby helping prevent further accidents...and we all know that all speed cameras are REALLY for is as revenue raisers......FACT
RE: really? i was going to agree with dragon tyke until i read your point. and its a very good point indeed; i never thought of it like that.
RE: and the main motoring organisations state speed bumps arent put in accident blackspots at all. I can think of 11 of the little Barstewards in under a mile that disagrees with that. Also speed camera's don't raise as much revenue as we are led to believe which makes them even more annoying. All speedbumps should be ripped up and all speedcamera's should be ripped out and relocated outside every school in the country with any dangerous roads/accident blackspots better signposted/lit and if needed redesigned
RE: really? speed camera's can be annoying, especially the mobile one's but at the end of the day the only time that they'll ever 'flash' you is if you are speeding. A speedbump encourages people to drive into the middle of the road/onto the wrong side whether they're driving at 1 mile an hour or 100 and whatever speed you are doing they will still cause damage to your car. especially if you are unfortunate enough to live in an area where you have to drive over one every day. They also make parking a nightmare, slow down traffic to an unneccessary level and cause tail backs and can give pedestrians and other drivers a false sense of security with people walking/pulling out in front of cars as they expect them to go slowly over the bumps
