I'm due for an phone upgrade shortly (£15 per month with Three).

If I don't take a new phone (I'm happy enough with my Nokia 6500), will I be entitled to a reduction?

    TIA,
    Stephen

You're not entitled to it, but you might be able to get yourself a discount if you phone up seen as you aren't upgrading.

    Doubt it...

...most companies offer 'Sim Only' deals that are normally about £15 a month with no minimum term contract as long as you keep your phone. You might be able to negotiate it like but I doubt they'll go down further than that.

You probably will if you ring them and ask about it.

What's the signal like on Three?

I was with three till January on a £15 monthly contract. I decided to switch to a new provider because of the way they dealt with my upgrade but if I'd wanted to stay I could have got the monthly rental down to under 9 quid think it was something like £8.70. Took hours over two days of talking to various folk in an indian call centre to get my pac and cancel the contract. They couldn't accept that I didn't want a reduction and that I was going to another provider and paying more for my phone by choice.

I think you'd probably have to go through the cancellation route to get a reduction, not sure they'd do it for not taking an upgrade - worth a punt though.

On the upgrade they gave me a very good price for a new phone and when I rang back to take it up refused to honour the price, told me there was no record of the offer and tried to charge me double.

    Cash Resign

Most companies offer a cash resign. If you dont upgrade to a new handset they offer you a cash equivalent if you agree to another 12/18 month. Saying that, this is usually less than the price of the phone, your better off getting a phone and putting it straight on EBay as brand new.

RE: You probably will if you ring them and ask about it.

The signal on 3 is much much better than it used to be. I was with them about 5 years ago and left because the signal was awful. The customer services was so good though at the time that I said I would go back to them in the future. I signed up to my 2nd 18 month contract with them earlier this week as I have been so please with them for the past 18 months. I dropped my new phone on concrete when when I had only been with them for 5 weeks a year or 2 ago and it broke the slider and mp3 player. I phoned them up and explained that I hadnt got insurance and knew I was screwed but what could they do? They picked it up the next day and had it back to me within 5 days in mint condition and no sign of me being charged. I contacted them to make sure a bill wasnt heading my way and they said they had invoiced Nokia for a manufacturing fault :) Im with them for my mobile broadband with the free laptop and they knocked off 25% because im already a customer. Just got a cracking deal with a Sony Ericsson w995 phone and im chuffed to bits with it. I wont leave 3 now unless something drastic changes. I had a terrible time with Orange for my phone and broadband in the past - i'll never go back to them again (even to get an iphone!).
