absolute ***** Im on o2 and might as well forget any data within a mile of oakwell. R kids on 4g and its fine. About time they did something to upgrade the repeaters around the ground imho. Anyone else get 3g easily at the game?
Nope, I am on 02 and texts and calls are ok but I can forget any kind of internet access. O2 is absolute toss.
I'm on O2 and it's rubbish as you say. Nowt to do with BFC though. I can't get a signal near Silkstone Golf Club and I've complained bitterly to them, but do they respond? Nope, they do nothing about it. The b@stards.
anyone on other networks get good data access at Oakwell? All i get when i complain is "reset your network settings" Useless.
Last night there were 3 of us sat together, all on different networks. None of us could get internet reception although we all had full signal indications.
Was **** on Tmobile. Seems 'ok' on EE 4G. thing is though, its going to be **** with that many thousands of people in a small space.
Same here Omen, shocking recently. It's like were back in the late 90's with basic mobile phones again. Nowt smart (phone) about it. I've complained to O2 recently and they replied with a link to their coverage map (www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker). They claim to have good 3G outdoors in most areas around Barnsley, but that's bollx'. Some you get an E (2G) connection, others only gprs (no data). Even when you do get the 3G signal on your phone, like Oakwell, theres no data available and you end up staring and forever refreshing a blank screen. O2's answer to this: FFS it's 2014. Man City have become the first club to offer free wifi in their stadium. I suggested summat similar at Oakwell ages ago, where they could fund it if they link it to Player subscriptions. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2595146/Manchester-City-Premier-League-club-introduce-free-wifi-stadium.html Personally, I believe their 3G network is oversubscribed and they aren't upgrading anything as they want you to move to 4G on a more expensive contract.
I'm on orange and after a hell of a lot of persisting, I can occasionally get the football scores. My girlfriend is on T-Mobile and has no trouble whatsoever.
If they still put up latest scores there wouldn't be a problem....I'm on 02 as well and only tend to struggle for signal at football grounds when you want to go on the internet. Last night no problems at all surprisingly.
Im on Vodafone - if I get there early I have some useable internet access but its quite slow but once we get close to kick off although my phone shows a 3G signal its almost unusable - If I refresh on a screen - eg the BBC scores most of the time I get a server unavaillable message but once in every 10 or so tries it works and after quite a few seconds updates the page I think the problem is the cell cant handle a couple of thousand phones all trying to communicate with it though text and calls work fine
I moved from O2 to Virgin a while back. Got to say, the 3G has been pretty flawless Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm on Orange - which now displays 'EE' on my homescreen. I can text and call fine, but internet is almost useless so I don't bother. The wife used to be on Virgin mobile and her 3g worked pretty well and got the latest scores with relative ease. We then upgraded her to a 4g EE contract recently and whatever you want it's pretty instant. Footy scores refresh in a nanosecond. I wonder if, when 4g is pretty much standard, we shall have this problem again further down the line if the networks become overcrowded around Oakwell? Anyway, if we get relegated then I imagine there will be a lot less fans hogging the connections. One bonus I suppose
I bought a pocket dab radio for match to keep eye on mi bets and teams around us because reception was shocking on phone
Reception for O2 is nearly always non-existent, sounds from your correspondence with them it's not going to change either !
