I'm looking to switch to a contract, which means I should be able to choose a phone. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not too fussed on what features it has, though I'd like WAP, decent camera and stuff like that.</p> Any guidance? </p>
Can't really go wrong with Sony Ericsson in my experience. Not sure on the latest models as I got mine last christmas...but I'd say any of the newer ones will be well worth getting
ive got the k850i and while it is excellent, the missus has got the nokia n95 8gb which is in a class of its own...been voted better than the iphone..ANd comes with spiderman 3 film already on it!! both phones are with vodafone £40 a month 750mins and unlimited texts...top deal
It swings too and fro but I'd say Sony Ericsson have it nailed at the moment, for pretty much all functions except stroking the screen with your finger. Which I'm not sure I'm into. I have a penis for that kind of thing.
daft question from a daft person but what does it mean to have a contract phone? If you get, say, £40 pm contract presumably you have up to£40 of calls free? (well not free obviously because you paid for it up front but you get my point). What if you only spend £20 one month, do you have £60 to spend next month? Alternatiovely if I make £50 of calls do I just get a bill for a tenner?</p> I'm new to this paying for your phone calls lark ...</p>
Not quite that simple your £40 - or whatever will give you a certain number of hours of time - my £25 contract gets me 200 mins a month which can be used on landlines and mobiles and also international calls in certain countries - obviously doesnt cover premium rate calls - such as the Oakwell box office or other international calls they are billed seperately any unused hours are carried over to the next month to a maximum of 400 so if I dont make many calls for a couple of months I start paying for time I dont use. You also get a decent phone thrown in as well though - and itemised billing - important if you make international work related calls
RE: Not quite that simple Ok thanks, so if I look for example at the N95 O2 30 18 contract deal below:</p> http://shop.carphonewarehouse.com/show_call_rates.php?TAR_ID=214&DAB_ID=8</p> You have to pay 30 x 18 = £540 for an N95 phone plus 400 minutes and 500 texts each month? Kinell</p>
O2 can do better than that I get 400mins and 1000 txt pm for £30 and got N95b 8mb. Tiny prob wi N95. Bugger all battery life, needs daily charge & in cold weather looses all charge in mins. Also occasionally turns itself off when I answer a call. Fantastic camera/video function tho
RE: O2 can do better than that hmmm I've a N95 on Orange with no problems with the phone what so ever Ali, i got 500 mins any network plus unlimited texts for 30 quid a month. But i must admit i have looked into getting a Iphone.
Bugger! said Noddy to Big Ears O2 deal was best I could find when I was looking. Tried Samsung & Sony Ericsson handsets & I'm too thick to be comfortable with their interfaces, find the Nokia one far more easy to manage. Played wi a Blackbeery belonging to one of the consultants at work & couldnt work it out. Interested in iPhone but think I'll let em sort out the gliches 1st. Use MMS frequently too so iPhone not an option until MMS easily usable
I've got 750 mins and 750 texts for £25/m with O2... Plus free K850i... though that's down to my 'loyalty' to them...
