Another favour on behalf WSB. I'm after a cover photo for the next issue. Decent res of something ideally related to The Strike but with connections to BFC. I can see the picture I want in my head but no b.stard seemed to take it (or at least I can't find it online). Any help is appreciated...
what strike would that be ?? the NHS strike the Firemans Stike/s the Tanker drivers strike the postmans strike the train/tube drivers strike the teachers strike the dockers strike the air traffic controllers strike the bin men strike the general strike
Re: what strike would that be ?? Do you really hail from Barnsley ? Sometimes I do wonder in fact I think you were found under a rhubarb tree
I'm sure that there is a photograph featuring old oakwell incorperating the Barnsley main winding wheel in the background. I would imagine thats as near a mining/strike link involving BFC IMO. If there isn't one I'm sure you could commision a painting from MrC with certain features added in infact I bet it would do quite well imo I,d order one
I think you may struggle with this dyson,i personally cant remember anything from the strike that connected us(the miners)with bfc,its 30 years ago mind so I may have forgotton something.
Not that it's much help, but Oakwell used to be full of blokes in their NCB donkey jackets who'd come straight off shift to the match. Somewhere, sometime, I deffo saw a shot taken from the back of the corner terrace between Ponty and West looking towards the pitch with the backs of three blokes in their pit jackets in the foreground. Get Mr C to knock one up with his wattacolours.....
Used to pick my Uncle out from the west stand like that, "wheer is he faffer?" "Next to end post in't Brewery, tha can just see his Donkey jacket", "Stop waving pillock, he can't see thi" Every fooker had one on though, l could have been waving to anyone.
