"Police bosses yesterday admitted officers have been arrested for crimes including assault and possessing an offensive weapon A freedom of information request revealed 20 officers from South Yorkshire Police were nicked between January 2003 and October 2008. Records show that of the 19 men and women arrested, six resigned as serving officers and another was sacked during his probation period. Four cases reached court - one for theft, two for drink driving and one for violence. Among those, a male officer, 41, who was arrested for theft, resigned after paying a fine and costs of £1200. Chief Super Robert Varey, head of professional standards, said: "South Yorkshire Police deal with arrested police officers in the same manner as any other arrests" Good old SY Police!!!
