Is it me or is this a complete non story http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-41012135 why would saving some piglets from a barn fire mean they wouldnt be eaten when they were big enough anyway. and in other news Farmers all over the country are blatantly feeding pigs sheep and cows and then killing them for food
Years ago I went to my mates farm in rural Staffordshire for his 21st birthday. On the way into the farm we were greeted by a massive pig at the side of the track to the farmhouse. Next morning we were all served bacon, sausages and black pudding for breakfast and the pig was nowhere to be seen... The pig was in the back field - it was a trick they regularly played on guests who were not so knowledgeable about farming.
This was featured on the Jeremy Vine show on BBC2 earlier today. The owners were interviewed and said they were really surprised at the criticism they've had over the incident. In the late 60's I used to keep the records for the Public Health Inspectors team at Doncaster Abbatoir. Some of the critics regarding this event would have probably dropped bow legged at some of the sights I saw there. Might look cruel, but it was all done as humanely as possible.
