Started training yesterday with the team. He's playing in a friendly next week. 2 to 3 weeks till he's ready collins says
Really hope McCart is fit for tomorrow then. Think Mael looks better when he is next to him. Sadly when when Shepherd plays the other defenders and keeper look a bag of nerves too.
They haven't even got around to adding his photo to the Frist team website yet, although all other moves have been updated.
They must have been reading this thread, as he's there now: https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/teams/first-team/
He can’t have made critical mistakes that have lost us matches though. Or because he’s a young lad his team expect him to make mistakes and are ready to back him up and cover him. Either way, you can’t say that moving from tier 7 to tier 3 isn’t a massive jump, and that generally he’s done well.
No. Roberts and others have bailed him out several times. He hasn’t done well at all. Yes it’s a massive jump, but no-one can objectively say he’s anything other than a liability. No-one wants to see local lads come into the team more than me. But he’s nowhere near this level, and at 23 how much improvement does he have in him? Sincerely hope he proves me wrong like.
Disagree with this, half his games have been good, half his games a liability. Yes, he's a couple of months away from 23, but he's never had the resources he has now. Training every day, training facilities, proper coaching, best diet and nutrition etc. Consistency is always key to a player, but id suggest he hasn't done half bad considering where he was half a year ago.
We can't keep making these excuses for Shep, after every single game though. Yeah I know he's only young and hes had to make a step up of how many Leagues, and this means hes been thrown in at the deep end far too quickly etc. But liability is the correct word I'm afraid. And it was a case of goodbye Mads Andersen, and hello Jack Shepherd!.
