Starting at 9 pm on Sky Art channel 11 , their live concert from Venice in 1989 , should be enjoyable

Never watch anything live on a commercial channel. Record to the Virgin box and watch only the program, skipping 4, 5 or 6 minutes when the ads start. It usually works out exactly to the minute

The time has come the song is over thought I’d something more to say. My favourite floyd song and I think Rick Wrights vocals were perfect for that lyric. Shame the fall out robbed us of many years of a great band. Perhaps that’s part of the mystique of pink floyd.

I loved Pink Floyd until Syd left.

I agree Ian but at least it is great that we have a channel that goes back in time & provides us with the opportunity to watch such classic footage , I loved it , great gig & it must have been awesome to have been there in such a spectacular setting .

The live LP from the double album Ummagumma (Astronomy Domine, Careful with that Axe Eugene, Set the controls and Saucerful of Secrets) takes some beating.

I always wonder if they would have ever been the band they became, had it not been for Syd Barrett. Personally think even Syd’s solo work is better than any Floyd album after Pipers

Also find Waters and Gilmour tiresome. Both come across as proper bitter and twisted egomaniacs

Couldn’t agree more. Sky Arts on a Friday night comes up with some fantastic footage of bands from the past.
I’m just so sorry I never saw Pink Floyd. I always enjoy the tribute bands when they make an appearance.

I saw Pink Floyd when I first came to live in London. They were on at an event called the 14 Hour Technicolour Dream held at Alexandra Palace in April 1967. Tremendous line up of bands. Unfortunately my memory of the occasion is somewhat limited now. There is some footage of the occasion to be found on Youtube but doesn't include them unfortunately.

Saw them twice. First time at Sheffield city hall performing a new album - Dark Side of the Moon. Stunning performance.

Perhaps even better was their theatrical performance at Earls Court building a massive wall across the stage.

I've seen Aussie Floyd and one other tribute act but they didn’t come up to the same standard as the originals.

Definitely not my bag. I find them pompous and overblown but I guess that’s why others love them. Syd was a genius and when he left the spark did for me. Not delved too much into his stuff any recommendations?

Atom Heart Mother. I've tried to like it for fifty years. I was at the free concert in Hyde Park when they launched it. The Eugene-like pieces mentioned earlier have been my staple.

but that's it, the song is over. Thought I'd something more to say....

Atom Heart Mother is my favourite track of all that they have done. It was probably the first one of theirs that I heard back in 1970. Still sends shivers up the spine.

I just plugged my ear pods in and listened to it for the first time in a while. All twenty three minutes of it. Wonderful…..
