Watching sentencing online. Fascinating stuff, witnesses pretty much discounted, looking like it won't be "pre meditated murder", I genuinely believe it was an accident.
While that's true, I recon if that happened to me, I wouldn't be all there in the head in the hours that followed. If I found my lass on t'floor in the bathroom after i'd shot into that room, I'd be inconsolable, I don't imagine my memory being too good from that time.
To be fair, as tempting as it may be sometimes, if I wake up in the night and our gurt's not in bed but in the bog, I don't go and shoot her as a first resort.
Aye, I recon I'd check, too. But then again, I don't have no legs, if he'd gone to check, and it was an intruder, they'd have got him before he had chance. It's been proven he didn't have his legs on
An accident?? Popping her off after battering the door down... I've had some accidents in the bog before but not that bad!
No, but he'd gone to the bathroom, and thought the intruders were in there. He had them cornered - just pop a cap in dem fools asses when they came out.
Its been said by witnesses that there were 4 bangs, screaming, then 3 bangs. It's thought that the 4 bangs are shooting, the screaming is him after he realised what he did, then the 3 bangs are him knocking the door down.
Fair point. He says that he thought that they were coming out, but you'd have thought he'd have waited till he actually saw them. I recon we'll never find the truth. Maybe my view is clouded by the guy being such a good athlete, but I don't think so. I don't know, his story doesn't 100% add up, but, can we put that down to grief?
Dunno, he's got to live with it, I've just found him to be somewhat contradictory in his evidence - that might be pressure - thankfully so far I've not been dobbied for owt so dunno how I'd fare on the witness stand.
he will walk (pardon the pun). not enough evidence to prove he meant to do it. she's pretty much already said pre-meditated murder is out the window. plus gun use appears to just be the norm in south africa. they seem to accept there will be a few innocent casualties along the way.
I can actually see him getting off on count 1, but going down for count 4, owning illegal ammunition they found in his safe
I went to a bar in Cape Town years ago and there was a sign saying that you had to check your guns in and couldn't take them into the bar, as if they were coats or something. Unreal. Beautiful place, but certainly what is accepted as the norm over there was nothing like we're used to. I think he's guilty of murdering her in the heat of the moment, but I can't see him being found guilty. If you get up in the middle of the might for a jimmy, and there's only you and your sleeping partner in the house, do you shut the door, let alone lock it?
No, no one does. Which is kind of the whole point. You only do that when you've had an argument with your partner and you don't want him getting in.
Following this on Twitter - looks bad for him, Judge has said he took a conscious decision, not confused.
