Just got back from a day trip to Cleethorpes, which would have been alright but for a plague of ladybirds & hoverflies.
Still finding them now in the bags, in the kids clothes, and one little b####r has got inside my shirt & I now have a lump on my back where it's taken a nibble.

RE: A day trip to Cleethorpes?

Don't! I'm not a big fan of the seaside in the first place, but the kids (and my other half) love it!

I managed to "get out" of last year's trip, but was quite looking forward to today - until the swarm landed.

As if being surrounded by swearing/ spitting/ high on Diamond White Chavs isn't bad enough! :)S)

Spent the whole time jumping around trying to swat flies & flick ladybirds off.

I remember Blackpool having the same thing in the 70s....... think it was blue bottles..... or horse flies as they are called over here. Ruined Blagoil for us and everybody else.

Not a big fan of beaches. (Though the ones abroad are nicer)
    Can't stand sand getting everywhere.
Sunburn (ha ha as if it's s problem just now)
All the tatty crap that goes with British seaside resorts
Chavs drinking Diamond White & swearing in the street
Not a big fan of fish & chips (which seems to be a compulsary part of any trip)
    Oh & I don't like fairgrounds!

Would rather have a walk in the countryside to be honest, but that's not the kids preferred choice.

Whitby to Sandsend is for you then. Magpie serves great food not just fish and chips then walk it off either along the beach or the cliff walk. Or visit the abbey if you fancy a Dracula moment

Rarely seen drunken chavs tho there are baseball caps there but more goths who always seems well mannered and well behaved. Tat not too bad, there is some excellent shopping, chilli choc in the chocolatier was stunning' All that & nearer than Cleggy
