    On the train home, people led me to believe that away goals don't count extra.</p>

    I dont think they count extra - but I cant be certain

    No "away goals rule" in the playoffs

    Was scrapped a few years ago - didn't it only take effect after extra time anyway? In which case I've always thought that way of doing it rather bizarre.

    I also seem to recall that Ipswich were one of the main preponents in scrapping the away goals rule after they lost with it 2 years running....didn't they then lose the following year on penalties when they would have won on away goals had it been used?!
