With the displays the lads are putting on at the moment the play offs look a reasonable target. I know it is early days but the signs are good and there appears to be more of a team spirit this year. Long may it continue!
Dunt get carried away .... lets get to 50 points ...... ..... first then see how much of the season is left!
RE: Dunt get carried away .... lets get to 50 points ...... prob not much of it.... i know we're doing ok right now but lets wait and see...
Bang on. We weren't relegated after Coventry and we aren't getting promoted now.
The defence needs to be more consistent then we might stay where we are now.

RE: Dunt get carried away .... lets get to 50 points ...... i know where a long way off the play-offs but, its great to be talking about Barnsley near the top rather than the bottom of the table. Long may it continue.
and I would be delighted with a top half finish. Lose the next two and then see where we are , but we still won't be relegated.... having said that win em and we'll only need 33 points to aviod the drop. If we go into the last month of the season in 7th then I'll start thinking of playoffs, until then I'll be looking over my shoulder.
If We Can........... improve our discipline we can do it. Davey has to be bothered about already have a load of yellow cards and a couple of reds. The defending for the goals we let in was poor and deffo the first one.
I've seen some very soft yellows this season. Howard Vs Plymouth, Campbell-Ryce Vs Stoke to name a few. Both of those from players chasing back and winning the ball.
What about when JCR got taken out by the touchline first half at Stoke ? Far worse than Werling's and no action taken by ref.
The frantic defending seems to be working at the mo', I am hoping we ride it all the way to the top.
My other concern is that our forwards barely loook like getting a shot in let alone scoring.

Problem that we have upfront is that each striker bought have to adapt to the Championship. Odejayi shows the potential, he chases down and at times looked knackered in the last 10 minutes. Whether that's fitness or the amount of work he puts in during the 90 minutes, who knows. He does appear to be a confidence player though, and times this season he could have shot but decided against it. Mostto, well who knows when he will be ready. Once he gets his chances, no doubt allot of pressure will be on his shoulders. I just feel we lack that 'predator' in the box. Someone that's done it before, and who will be in the 18 yard box.
If Foster gets injured/suspended We've **** it.
We're better going forwards, if we try and play the game so we soak up pressure we eventually crack. imho if we are going defensive then you need Togwell in central midfield.

The main thing is that we have people waiting to come into the team / squad now. That's whether it be a keeper, defender, midfielder or striker. We didn't have that choice last year, or if we did we didn't hold out much hope.
That's true. It's if they add anything to the team, and if they do, will they be happy playing bit parts of getting put back on the bench ? Prime example being Togwell and McCann who both excelled at Newcastle then dropped next game. It seems McCann's grumbling has got him a place, and his left foot has probably secured it for the next match.
Keeping a large squad happy is a tough task, especially at our level. That said, we don't currently seem to have much option up front. Only midfielders and right backs need to worry....

RE: That's true. a squad of spackman esque proportions..... "hello nigel".. need a new midfielder??? "yea... weve only got 14 of em" come on down peter sand.... ......
