Agreed. Especially considering the quality of the sides that came up and were relegated. And I bet we're the only side to make a profit in this league.
Correct. I've said elsewhere its not the usual thing that excites fans but it will be a massive achievement.
Why do you think the league is worse than last year? The championship is a consistently good division
Last season though, we ended on 56 points. I'll be amazed if we get to 50 this time around. It's been an alarming slump but understandable given the quality players we've lost. It's worrying for next season though and is hardly likely to boost season ticket sales.
Coventry, Forest & Donny worse than Preston, Sheff U and Scunny last year? I think swapping those that got relegated with Southampton, Brighton and Peterborough, (all who are holding their own) along with West Ham, Blackpool and Brum coming down makes it a more difficult league this year.
I can't see how optimism should be any worse than last year. We'd had a massive slump and our manager had quit because he didn't think he could keep us up on the budget we had. At least this year we have a manager who (hopefully) has proved he can keep us up on this budget and will have had the summer to replace our three best players
Well that's alright then... ... not that, if we'd have kept our form and pushed on a bit rather than sitting back, not being arsed, and saying "ahhh well we've probably done enough for this season"; we could have made a fist of a playoff spot. May well have been worth a punt this year with a couple of "namers" in the side, a top ten finish may have had more bums on seats toward the end of this season and the start of next. With the revenue paying for them. Makes one wonder if complacency is a standard on Grove Street, still, you've only to look at Pompey's plight to see the boards rational.
Re: That isn't why Robins quit And he was given his notice because he wasn't happy with the budget he was given for this year. Allegedly etc.
Re: That isn't why Robins quit He asked for time to think about it. He didn't say it was unacceptable, he didn't say it was OK, he simply asked for time.
Re: That isn't why Robins quit Ok, well to take that scenario the point stands - why should people be more pessimistic than the previous year? The reality seems to be some are bored by the comfort of mid-table
Re: That isn't why Robins quit He left because the terms of his employment were being changed and he was put on 12 months notice because he wanted to think about it, not because he said he would not do it!!
Re: That isn't why Robins quit A bit like keith hill did when he took time to decide on taking the job
Re: That isn't why Robins quit Just like last season, we never looked like getting relegated, but some fans were not satisfied with the thing they said they wanted at the beginning of the season. Just like this season!
Re: That isn't why Robins quit What terms of employment were changed? Was he asked to take a pay cut etc? Unless he had a budget written into his contract don't see how that's possible.
